Chapter 9: Team work

"Is it just me or you also notice how Pogo looks at us during class?" Number Four asked breaking the silence. "He looks like he's thinking about how he will prepare our funeral."

"I bet it's about the t-training later. Dad must have p-prepared something n-nasty for us." Number Two replied his expression bothered.

As expected, Number One immediately defended his father. "I'm sure whatever it is, its for our own good. We need to be trained to save people."

The eight children were now huddled in Number Six's room after the long hours of class. Everyone felt the tension for the training. It was pretty obvious how Reginald seemed to have a plan for later. Alina who's supposed to be reading a book as she sat at Six's chair beside the window seemed to be distracted, her gaze was far away. Number Seven who's sitting on the floor beside her noticed.

"Lina?" Number Seven asked with a concerned voice, her brows creased. "Are you still feeling sick?"

Alina snap out of her reverie when she heard Seven's question. Alina gave her a reassuring smile to ease her worries. "I'm alright, Sev. I just have this weird feeling about the training later."

Number Seven remembered what happened earlier. She was surprised when her dad approached her after breakfast to inform her about what her role will be for this training. "Dad spoke to me earlier." She started gaining the attention of her siblings and Alina. The eyes locked on her made her fidget as she shyly stared at her fingers. "He gave me a role for your training later. He said I'll assist in monitoring with Pogo and him."

This seemed to catch everyone's interest as they became curious what that meant.

"Did he mean through cameras?" Number Six, who was almost falling off his bed due to Four and Two occupying it, asked. Number Seven only nodded in confirmation while wondering how Six was able to lay casually on the bed despite the difficulty. 

Number Three who was sitting at the armrest of Alina's chair nodded with worry. "Whatever it is, we have to be ready."

The awaited time for training arrived. Reginald ordered for them to change their clothes into their green tracksuit in which they wear during strenuous physical exercises. They wonder if this implicates how difficult their training will be. Though they were used to the difficult drills that Reginald gives them, the twists that Reginald invents never fail to surprise them.
