The morning had of course not had gone how Penelope had thought it would. Not only had Colin, the man she had been in love with for who knows how long, come calling on her during the early hours of the morning, but had somehow come to the conclusion that he was now courting her... she wasn't sure if she should be overjoyed or disturbed.
But before she could question the handsome Bridgerton, they were interrupted by the food her family's new cook had so generously provided. Despite it now being. 6:49 in the morning?!
Penelope grinned as she watched Colin, sitting on the sofa, eating all of the food off his plate. She of course ate too, but she still couldn't help but observe him from her spot on the same sofa.
"You okay?" He said softly as he ate his third muffin, his eyes still on his love. He couldn't help but grin at her being his love. Perhaps she would be his wife?
"You really want to court me?"
Colin put down his plate as he looked at her. It hurt him to know that she doubted him but he also couldn't blame her. If he was in her position he was sure he would have some doubts too. Which was way he was now determined more than ever to make it up to her and prove his love for her. Not matter how long it took. (If it took him forever, so be it!)
"Yes." Colin said the most stern and serious he had ever been his entire life.
"Why?" She couldn't help but feel awkward again when he gave her a look as if she had a thousand heads.
To Colin, he thought it was rather obvious. But again, he knew she had doubt. And again, he didn't blame her.
"Penelope. I..." He suddenly felt a loss for words and he was mentally strangling himself. Of all the times to not speak his truth it had to be now! Say it you coward! Tell her you love her!
"Yes?" Penelope said looking back at him. She could see the look in his eyes again. What was it? He had had several times before, but she couldn't pinpoint what it was. She wish so much that she could.
Although neither of them seemed to notice, they both had been leaning towards each other. It was if they were drawn together. Like magnets. Like two pieces of the same puzzle.
"Colin?..." Penelope said softly as she looked at him.
"Pen..." Colin said equally as soft. His eyes couldn't help but drop to her lips. The lips that he had pictured on his. The ones he desperately needed more than anything else in the whole world.
Colin Bridgerton was a gentleman. He knew as such. The whole Ton knew. But still. In this moment. With Penelope Featherington inches from him, he couldn't seem to stop himself. He wanted to kissed her.
It would be a soft kiss. At least it would be, at first. But he knew. He knew the moment he'd feel her lips against his. There would be fireworks. He would make her moan. He would kiss her nonstop. It would be I mpossible for him to stop. Especially when his hands moved to her body with their own accord. Oh, god! How he desperately needed this. He needed to feel how soft her skin was. How incredibly round and perky her breasts were. How perfect she'd feel against him. Around him...
"Colin?" Penelope said breaking the man out of his improper daydreams. And thank god, she did! For he was so close to acting on his desires.
"Yes?" He said softly his face still awfully close to her.
Penelope couldn't help but blush red as she glanced down, drawing his gaze down with hers.
The moment Colin looked down his eyes widened and his cheeks turned red as well. He had been so overwhelmed by his thoughts of her that he hadn't realized that his body was now revealed just how much he wanted her!
