Penelope grinned at Colin as they ate an actual breakfast. She blushed whenever she noticed him looking at her. Especially whenever their eyes made contact. It made them connected in a way that made her heart jump with joy. As if they were made for each other. This feeling she never had with anyone else.

It was because of this feeling that she really couldn't help but feel nervous and guilty.

"Are you alright, Pen?" Colin whispered to her rather worried. He hated seeing her so upset. It made her lose the sparkle in her eyes, the one that he loved whenever he looked into her gorgeous blue eyes.

"Yes. I uh. I was just thinking." She said looking into his eyes, feeling a bit more comfort.

Colin gave her a reassuring grin as he held her hand under the table and gave it a reassuring squeeze to match. She knew he wanted her to continue.

"Whatever am I to do about Lord Williams?" Penelope said shyly, although her heart couldn't help but jump for joy at their hands.

Colin took a breath as his gaze turned back to his now empty plate. The thought that anything had to be done about her "other suitor" made him want to punch a wall. Why didn't he come to his senses earlier?!

"Colin?" Penelope asked. She could see a look in his eyes that made her want to jump into his lap and comfort him. He was hurt. Upset. Angry. Any other emotion that she despised him to have.

"Tell him the truth." He said looking at her with an entirely different look. A look that made her want to kiss him. To embrace him. And she knew he felt the same.

"The truth?"

Colin took a breath. Now was the time. Do it. Just say it!

"That we adore each other so much."

Penelope looked at him. She couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that he only adored and not loved her. But she knew that even if it was only partially the truth, that she should inform Lord Williams.

"You know that might egg him on." Penelope said knowing that was also the truth.

"Well luckily, I love competition." And you, he wanted to scream.

"Well. May the best man win."

"Oh, I certainly intend to."

They then looked at each other in silence. Unlike the moments before, it wasn't an awkward kind of quiet. It was content. Comfortable. And full of lo...

They both said each other's names, clearly having the same thought. It made them both giggle and blush as they glanced at each other.

"Go ahead." He said with a nod, as he admired her yet again.

"I uh..." For a moment she had completely forgotten what she about to say.

"Yes?" Colin asked with a grin and raised brow as he brought her chair closer to his. Their faces only inches from each other. He was suddenly glad that Lady Featherington had 'other pressing issues' this morning.

Penelope immediately noticed how close they were to each other. And she felt her heart beating faster. She also noticed another look in Colin's eyes, the ones that seemed to be gazing at her entire body before landing on her lips then eyes.

"Colin." She said softly, but not moving even slightly.

"Pen..." He said making the gap between their faces, even smaller. "Can I kiss you?"

As an answer, Penelope herself leaned in and kissed him. Although she wasn't entirely sure what she was doing, she didn't stop. She couldn't. Not when he began to almost immediately start to kiss her back. His hands immediately going to her cheeks. She smiled as she felt his hand caressing her cheeks.
