I woke up the next morning with the sun still rising. Mario was still sleeping so I walked outside so I didn't disturb him. It was pretty light outside as there were few Toads walking around. I guess Mario helped the Toads that were stuck like that Toad in the bush.
I waited for about an hour or two, for Mario to wake up.
"Good morning, Mario," I said. "How did you sleep?"
"Good." he muttered, rubbing his eyes.
"That's good I slept well too. Should we make our way to the Town?" I asked.
He nodded.
"Ok let go!" I stared down the campsite, there were toads everywhere they looked happy so happy they were walking around and talking to each other or to Mario thanking him. Mario just replied with a nod and continued through the campsite.
Mario told me that there used to be folded soldiers and holes, he even said that the Toads were folded up. I wonder why Olly would do such a horrible thing. The Toads seem so nice.
After about half an hour of walking through the campsite and a little section of woods, there were folded soldiers and they were standing next to a pile of paper people, each with dark brown skin and dark brown hair. They weren't toads but something else. Mario pulled out his hammer and smashed he folded soldiers.
"Thanks Mario," one of them replied.
"Us goombas were minding our own business when these jerks came along and tried to fold us." a second one said. So goombas that's what they're called.
"You know what Mario, maybe we sound like we forget about the past for a little bit, after all we're all paper, so we should work together to stop those jerks." A third one said. I looked at the ground, I wish Olly could be like that. I heard their footsteps grow quieter. And Mario started walking down the path we were on, I quickly ran to catch up. It wasn't long after that we were at a tall metal arch. The sign on the top read Toad Town.
"Well, we're here," Mario said.
"The town seems empty." I said.
"It was like this when me and Luigi got here," Mario muttered.
"Luigi, is that your brother?" I asked.
"Yes," he said, his voice trailing.
"Well then let's go find him. Maybe he's where the castle was." there was a strange noise like paper being shredded.
"Do you hear that?" I asked. Mario nodded. We turned around, behind us there was a goomba, I think. This one was different though it wasn't paper or origami it looked like it was made of a bunch of pieces of paper, wait I think I've read about this it's called... Paper mache I think. It was far enough away so it didn't hear us.
"What's it doing?'' I whispered to Mario. It slowly turned around to reveal a hole in the house and confetti on its face.
"Is it Eating it?" I asked, my eyes wide. Mario nodded. And the Paper Mache went back to eating, maybe, the house. I noticed a seal on the back of the Goomba. It was a silhouette of my brother's face. Wow he really wants people to know it was him.
"Maybe that seal is a weak spot." I suggested. Mario hit the seal and a white flag appeared on his head. With a few more swings the paper Mache was destroyed.
"Why was the scary thing here?" I asked.
Mario shrugged, "Don't know, but it seems like there's more here. Tell me if you see anymore."
I nodded. He started walking towards the far side of town. There were pieces of paper scattered on the roads and garlands that were half attached to poles. There were holes in the ground or in buildings. What did Olly do?
On our way to the outside of the castle there were a few more Paper Mache things that Mario took care of. Though once we reached the moat we realized we had a bigger problem.
"The bridge is broken, how did that happen?" I asked.
"Something must have hit it," he muttered.
"So is there any other way to cross?"
"Well, yes there are some underground sewers."
"Where's that?"
"Down this path just a little bit," he said pointing
"Should we go then?" I asked.
"Probably," Mario muttered.
At the next building over which I assume was the entrance to the sewers. By the building there was a person who looked a lot like a folded soldier with the same mask hood and red clothes. But this one looked more like a regular person, not a folded soldier. I think Olly called them Shy... Guys, yeah Shy Guys.
"Hi," I said. "Is this the entrance for the swears?"
"Um... yeah," he said. "What does a kid want to go down there for?" he muttered. I'm not that young.... At least I don't think so.
"Well, we need to access the underground sewers to get to Peach's castle." Mario said.
"Oh of course I would give it to you... but I gave it to my friend he hasn't returned it."
Mario sighed. "Why can't my life ever be easy..." he muttered and in a louder tone asked. "What does he look like?"
"He's a red Shy Guy like me but less handsome ok got it."
"Thanks..."
And the search began.
Sorry for the long wait I also apologize that chapter 5 was a whole lot longer than this was I write better with shorter chapters (mostly when writing one person POV) so some chapter might be long but most won't be
