Hunter's Night
I woke up that morning with the sun well above the sky and my uniform all dried up on its own. I jumped out of bed and wasn’t surprised to see 9:30 on the alarm clock. I hadn’t turned on the alarm last night and had probably fallen asleep from the despicable long hours of being pathetic.
I felt crappy…not just because of Amber was back with Yuuzel. I felt crappy because I had felt crappy about it. That was the most pathetic and the lowest I had sunk in the history of my crappy life.
And because it was that much late I decided not to go to school that day. I put on some normal clothes, a maroon t-shirt and a striped pedal shorts. The malls were still closed that time and so I went for a walk while waiting for them to open. There was a new coffee shop that opened a few blocks from the Red building. It was country-styled and already had a few patriots who were having their morning cup. I got in and found the farthermost corner.
At times like this a good read was the best thing in the world…but I ran out of pocket books.
“Skipped classes today?”
I looked up and saw the substitute standing over the counter. I slouched down and averted my eyes back to the shop window where random people were doing random things outside.
“May I?” he asked, his butt was already on the seat infront of me.
“Don’t. I have nothing to do with them anymore. I’m not their reincarnated –“
“No.” he cut me off and took out a black envelope that had a white rose seal on it. “You are someone more important than that and we happen to really need you right now.”
“Me? And whose we?”
“AVS…those two vampire nobles probably told you about us. And your mom should really have told you before any of thi-“
“My mom?? What does she have to do about this?”
He pushed the black envelope into my hands, never leaving his eyes off me.
“Consider it as an invitation… But if you wish to know more about your mom’s midnight job come to the capital park at exactly 11:45 tonight.” He said. “Then you’ll finally understand what the members of the Dark realm really are.”
The substitute left. I sat there just looking at the envelope and then out the window when the shop lady approached me.
“Here is a gift coupon.” She smiled gently. “Just something to cheer you up.”
I thanked her and then made my way to the mall. Mom kept true to her words and didn’t leave me any allowance that day. It was a good thing that I knew where she kept the emergency money. She did say that I can use whenever I think it was absolutely necessary. Plus I’d tell her about it later…much much later.
I wasted the day at AstroEntertainment and figured I should probably watch a movie while I was there. The time really was different when you were at the mall. It flies – literally and you wouldn’t even notice it until your feet finally tells you you’ve been walking way too much and it was time to either sit or eat. It was 6 pm when my feet did that. So home it is.
Mom wasn’t there yet and there were students wearing the SMA uniform walking around now. I quickly got inside, up to my room and onto bed – when I felt the crumpling piece of hard paper on my back.
The letter.
I opened it and inside there was a little black card that resembled a bio-data form. It had lots of blank slots for the name, address, date of birth etc…and the codename and registration number. This must be the registration form for joining AVS. I shrugged my shoulders and threw the envelope away…and then…snooze…
