Jenna sat in her dark living room, fidgeting nervously. She reflected on the phone conversation she had just had with Director Kang.

"The accident happened yesterday. The military is discharging Taehyung from his service a little early due to the extent of his injuries. Unfortunately, we don't know to what extent those injuries are. They won't tell us. They're transferring him to a civilian hospital tomorrow so that his friends and family can help support him, or so they said. I think the only reason they called us was because he's technically still under contract with BigHit. So let's remain calm and wait for more information, okay?" The Director sounded worried, no matter how calm she tried to keep her voice.

"I'm glad you contacted me, but honestly, I'm just going to worry like crazy over this. Tae only had a few days left! What could have happened? I guess he's not dead since they're transferring him." Jenna couldn't control the bitter tone in her voice. She wasn't sure what was worse, not knowing or knowing with minimal details.

"Jenna, I know things like this are hard to understand and deal with, but let's just wait and see. I'll let you know as soon as I can what hospital he's in, okay? Try to relax and rest, even though I know that's impossible right now. It makes me feel better to say it."

Jenna was not resting or relaxing. Did "tomorrow" mean today since, technically, the Director had called her in the middle of the night? She decided to get ready for the day just in case.

Taehyung had indeed been transferred to a civilian hospital later on that morning. He slumped down in the bed and frowned. This whole situation was so dumb. He glared down the bed to his leg, which was currently in a hideous brace.

He sighed and leaned his head back against his pillow. His superiors had managed to get him an early discharge since he had been in this thing for the next six to eight weeks. At least when he had broken his arm, he could still walk and use his free arm. He wasn't completely useless. What could he do around the base now besides hobble around or push papers across a desk? Neither of those options was beneficial to the Korean army whatsoever. So they had let him go a few days earlier than scheduled. They told him they had called his company, and so he half-expected a manager or someone to walk through the door any moment.

Taehyung stared out of the hospital window with a bitter expression. He was trying to be happy he was out a few days early but failing miserably.

Suddenly, the door burst open without warning, and like a bolt of lightning, a curly-headed woman was making a beeline for his bedside.

"Tae! What happened? Are you okay? Oh my goodness, look at your leg..." Jenna's voice trailed off as her eyes scanned his body, looking for more injuries. Finally, her hands gripped his face, turning it toward her.

"Babe," Taehyung mumbled through squished cheeks, "it's okay. I'm fine."

"You're obviously not fine! What's happened? I've been so worried. I just found out early, early this morning. I couldn't wait to see you. I'm so glad to see you." She leaned down, wrapping him in a tight hug.

He wrapped his arms around her, breathing in her scent. He had missed her.

The door to the room opened again, and the pair quickly separated. An older-looking nurse walked into the room, looking at a chart. She frowned and scrunched up her face. Then, looking up from the chart, her face broke into the broadest smile. So expansive that Jenna was positive her face was just going to split in half.

"Look who we have here! Taehyung-ssi, I thought we had an understanding. You wouldn't be back under my care again. What brings you back? Did you miss this old woman?" She giggled and walked over to his bedside, checking his hospital bracelet to make sure it matched her records.
