ARIEL

Standing on Julia's porch, the front door swung open, and a familiar face greeted me with a soft smile and kind blue eyes.

"Hey Julia." I smiled as she stepped onto the porch. She closed the door behind her and gave a much-needed hug.

"Are you ready to go?" I nodded, then followed her to the driveway. We climbed into her Sliver Honda. "To the mall!" She exclaimed, then started the engine before pulling out of her driveway. As we drove down the road, I stared out the window. I couldn't get my mind off of Kian. Off of what would happen Saturday. I knew why he was coming over, but the fear of him actually doing something in my house, with my brother there.

"What's wrong?" Julia's voice spoke, pulling me out of my thoughts. My head turned to her as we sat at a red light. Her head leaned against her headrest as her blue eyes shifted over to me. I averted my eyes away, looking at the door. "Come on, Ariel, tell me." She insisted. Julia always knew when something was wrong. I could never hide it from her.

"It's about Kian." I told her as the light turned green. She kept looking at me until another car behind me honked their horn. She sighed frustrated at the other driver, and flipped them off as she began driving again. "He's working with Adam on a film project on Saturday at the house." I continued as she drove.

She let out a heavy sigh, shaking her head. "God, it's bad enough that you have to deal with him and his friends at school. Now you have to deal with one of them at home too." I nodded, conforming. Her eyes glanced over. "Just try and avoid that asshole."

A grin pierced through my lips. "I'll try." I replied as we pulled into the parking lot of the mall. We found a spot near the Gap store and Julia parked, shutting off the engine. We climbed out and headed inside the mall.

The hours flew by when Julia and I found ourselves wandering the mall, her arms filled with large shopping bags. I, on the other hand, wasn't a big shopper like Julia, but she needed opinions on everything. I was happy to give them, even if she didn't agree with me.

"Hey, let's go to Hollister." Her voice spoke through the silence as we passed the trendy teen store. I let out a scoff and looked at her.

"I don't think you gave any more arm space." I replied. She scrunched her nose at me, and I smiled. "Go." I said, gesturing towards the store. "I'm going to go grab a coffee. I think there was a place near where we parked the car."

"I'll text you when I'm done." She announced. "We'll meet by the car." She didn't wait for a response from me before she walked into the store. I chuckled, rolling my eyes and headed off in the direction we came in from. I followed the signs to the exit and found a coffee place.

Starbucks.

The bell rang above the door as I walked inside. A young female stood behind the counter; a smile plastered on her face as I walked up. There was no way she was this happy about working at a coffee shop at seven at night.

"Hi, welcome in." Her voice was cheerful. "What can I get for you today?" I told her my order and my name before paying for my latte. As she walked away to make my drink, I pulled out my phone and checked X, to read about the latest celebrity drama, but there was nothing too interesting.

Everyone was tweeting about the latest celebrity who was getting married and who was having a baby. I sighed, slipping my phone back into my pocket.

"Ariel!" The cashier called, sliding my latte forward at the pick up station. I walked over and grabbed it before finding a seat near the front window. Before I could even take one slip of my coffee, my phone beeped. Shifting in my chair, I pulled out my phone again. A text from my brother appeared on my screen.

ADAM: Hey, are you coming home soon? I was hoping we could have dinner together before dad gets home.

ARIEL: I'm still at the mall with Julia. I'm waiting for her. I won't make it for dinner, but I'll be home before dad does.

ADAM: Okay. See you in a bit then.

A smile appeared on my face as I looked down at my phone. I didn't know what I would do if I didn't have Adam. Even tho, we were twins, he acted like he was older. Maybe it was because he was more mature than me. Another beep from my phone snapped me out of my thoughts. I glanced down at the screen.

JULIA: Leaving here in a couple minutes. Meet me by the car?

ARIEL: Sure. See you soon.

I sent the text, as I looked up, hearing the bell above the door. My eyes widen in fear. My body began trembling. Of course, I had the worst luck. Why here? Why now?

Standing a few feet away with their backs turned were three of my bullies.

Trevor Moran, Sam Pottorff, and Ricky Dillon.
