Kian and I spent the whole day hanging out at his house, watching old Disney movies and snacking on Domino's pizza.

Now it was maybe the afternoon and I was sitting alone in Kian's basement, watching Balto while he was upstairs getting us both something to drink. I heard the basement door open and looked over as Kian  came down the stairs with two red solos cups filled with whatever soda I had asked for. He handed me my drink, and then sat down next to me, putting his arm around my shoulders again. I scooted closer to him and rested my head on his shoulder as the movie reached the rising action of the film.

"Hey." Kian whispered to me. I picked up my head and looked at him as he asked, still in a whisper, "Was today more fun than stupid school?" I giggled and smiled nodding.

"Yeah." I answered. He smiled back at me, then leaned towards me closing his eyes. I did the same and prepared myself. Our lips were inches away from touching when there was a loud ring throughout the house, making us both jump back. We both looked at each other confused as we heard loud knocking coming from upstairs, then Kian glanced behind me.

"Shit." He cursed staring it. I looked behind me and saw a clock on the wall.

It was almost 3:30.

School had officially ended for the today.

I looked back at Kian as he quickly stood up staring toward the stairs.

"What's wrong?" I asked curious as I stood up behind him, crossing my arms in front of my chest. Kian looked back at me and was about to say something when we heard something vibrate. We both looked down on the coffee table and saw a notification on Kian's phone. He quickly grabbed it and looked at his phone screen.

"The guys are here." Kian announced with wide eyes.

"What?" I questioned taking a step toward him. He looked up at me as I asked him kind of in a panic, "What are we gonna do?"

"Um." Kian thought out loud as he looked around the basement, "You can sneak out the back." He whispered to me gesturing toward the back wall. I looked over and saw a back door leading to outside.

"Okay." I replied before turning my attention back to Kian as he saw doing something on his phone, "What are you doing?" I asked in a whisper.

"Telling them I'll be a minute." He answered referring to the guys, then put his phone back on the coffee table and rushed over to me. He grabbed my hand and brought me over to the back door, "Wait until they come inside to leave." He told me opening the door.

I nodded.

"Okay." He whispered, then let out a deep breathe before taking off toward the stairs. I heard him as he ran upstairs and opened the basement door leading into his kitchen. I listened to his footsteps walking toward the front door and heard the front door creak as he opened it.

"Hey-" I very faintly heard Kian say from upstairs, but couldn't make at what he said after that. After few seconds, I heard the ceiling pounding with footsteps above telling me that the guys were inside.

That was my cue to leave.

As quietly as possible, I slipped out the basement door and rushed up the stone stairs leading up to his backyard. I looked around to get my bearings before cautiously walking around his house, avoiding the window and ran off down the street.

After running by two or three of Kian's neighbors, I slowed down and began walking to the end of the street where it met a main street, which wasn't that far away. When I got to the corner, I looked around to see if there was a bus stop or something.

There wasn't any form of public transportation anywhere around.

I sighed reaching into my bag and pulling out my phone as I turned it back on. Earlier I had turned it off because one: I don't need it. And two: I forget to charge it last night. It was only on 48% when it came on, then a bunch of texts and missed calls blew up on my lock screen. Some from Julia, but mostly from Adam:

Hey where are you? -Adam 9.22 AM

Hey Ariel where are you? -Julia 9:48 AM

Are you home? -Adam 10:04 AM

MISSED CALL AND VOICEMAIL FROM ADAM 11:15 AM

What's going on? Are you okay? -Julia 11:1 AM

Call me back. I'm worried. -Adam 11:20 AM

MISSED CALL AND VOICEMAIL FROM ADAM 12:27 PM

I read the texts and listened to Adam's voicemail, which was basically he freaking out and apologizing for last night. I decided to text Julia telling her that wasn't feeling well enough to go to school today, and then ordered an Uber to take me home.

Adam I could talk to when I got home.
