Chapter 13: Returning To The Dairy

Y/N POV

Me, Lee and Danny return to the farm.

Danny: Man, that was a hell of a ride, huh?

Lee tosses his rifle to Danny.

Lee: What?

Danny: You were a madman back there! Took that crazy bitch down!

Y/N: OH NO! Anyways.

Brenda stands up from her seat on the porch stairs.

Brenda: You're back! What happened?

Danny: Lee took care of it!

Danny walks off. Brenda sits down again and Lee approaches her.

LEE POV

Lee: Y/N go play with Clem for a bit okay?

Y/N: Okay.

Y/N runs off to Clem.

Brenda: This isn't what Terry would've wanted...

Lee: Who's Terry?

Brenda: My husband. Miss him every day.

We hear Kenny and Lilly are arguing in front of the gazebo.

Lilly: Then screw it up for everybody then, why don't you?

Kenny: Oh, calm down, princess. I'll do it myself.

Kenny walks off and Lilly returns to the gazebo.

Lee: What's going on with them?

Brenda: Dunno. Squabblin', looks like. A lotta tension with y'all, huh?

Lee: Yeah, you could say that. They don't exactly see eye to eye on how we should be doing things.

Brenda: Well, it's probably just the hunger talkin'!

Brenda: And, Lee, don't worry your head about them bandits. I'm sorry you've seen more violence than I'd'a thought in your short time, but y'all are safe here. Don't worry.

Lee: Think I'll go have a look around.

Brenda: Don't wander too far. Dinner will be ready before you know it. And thank your friend Katjaa again for me. She and the kids are in the barn with the cow. That woman is a lifesaver!

I walk down the steps and Clem and Y/N wave at him from the barn before closing the door. I examine her hat before putting it away again.

I talk to Lilly

Lilly: Hey, so what happened at the camp? Did you guys find any more of those guys that hurt Mark?

Lee: We found a woman in the woods. She was talking all crazy and had a crossbow...so I had to kill her.

Larry: Jesus Christ. Did you at least get some goddamn food?

Lee: No. Nothing.

Lilly: I knew it. It was a mistake coming here.

Lee: What were you and Kenny arguing about when I came back from the camp?

Lilly: He's losing it, Lee. He comes over and starts talking about searching the barn and that these people are hiding something.

Larry: But you told him to mind his own goddamn business, right? We are guests here, and we don't need to be overstaying our welcome more than we already are.

Lilly: The way I see it, we need to just skip the dinner and get our food to-go. But I'm starting to think your friend over there has another agenda.

I enter the barn, where Katjaa, Duck, Clem, Y/N and Andy gather nearby the cow.

Katjaa: It's okay, kids, you can pet her.

Clem looks to me.

Lee: It's okay, go ahead.

The kids slowly approaches Maybelle and pets her.

Clem: Whoa... Katjaa says Maybelle could have her baby tonight.

Katjaa: We'll see, Clem.

Lee notices a salt lick nearby.

Lee: What's this thing?

Duck: They said it's called a salt lick.

Clem: Yeah, but don't lick it. It's gross.

Lee: Did you lick it?

Clem: I don't know...

Y/N: You're silly Clem.

Y/N POV

I couldn't help but laugh at Clem being adorable.

Y/N: So Clem what did you do when I was gone?

Clem: Mostly swing on the swing.

Y/N: Nice.

Clem: It wasn't as fun without you though.

I smile.

Y/N: I don't doubt it.

Lee: How do you like that cow, Clem?

Clem: She's pretty.

Y/N: Like you.

Clem blushes the hardest I've ever seen and It's adorable.

Clem: T-T-Thank y-you Y/N.

I tip my hat and she blushes again.

I see Lee pull out Clem's hat.

Lee: Here, Clementine.

Clem: My hat! You found it!

She puts it on.

Clem: I knew you'd find it! You said you would!

Y/N: Clem, did you... give your hat to anyone?

Clem: No.

Lee: Did you see any strangers around the motor inn who might've taken it?

Clem: No. Why?

Lee: It's probably nothing. Just let me know if you ever see anything like that.

Clem: Okay, I will. Hey, Lee. Do you think you'll ever have kids?

Lee: I'd like to, someday. Maybe a little girl and boy like you two.

Clem: That's nice. You'd be a good daddy.

Y/N: Lee you already act like my dad so you would be great. Same with Carley being like a mom to me. Maybe you two will get together cause I know u have a crush on her.

I then wink.

Lee: You wanna talk about crushes huh?

Lee: Hey C...

Y/N: SHUT IT!

Lee: Why? You just did that to me?

Y/N: Yeah but that was to help explain that you would be a great dad and Carley would be a great mom.

Lee: Alright then.

Clem: Well, thanks for finding my hat.

Lee: You're welcome, Clem.

Clem: Do you wanna pet the cow with me?

Lee: Nah, but you go on ahead.

Lee talks to Duck

Lee: Have I missed anything?

Duck: No, not really. (sniffs) Hm. It smells funny in here.

Clem: Like shit, right, Lee?

Duck looks surprised, and Katjaa glares disapprovingly.

Lee: Hey, don't use swear words, okay?

Clem: But I've heard Y/N use them.

Lee: That goes for you too young man.

Y/N: Yes Sir.
