Chapter 35: Back At The House & A Turn For The Worst

We just escaped Crawford and we are heading back to the house and I'm holding mom's and Clem's hands.

Y/N: I'm glad you two are okay.

Carley/Clem: We're glad you're okay too.

The House

Christa: Omid?

Lee: Hey, what do you say we go check on Omid?

We join Christa and Vernon in Omid's room.

Lee: Christa? Everything okay?

Christa: Omid!

Christa runs over to Omid and holds his hand.

Lee: Clem, stay back. Don't get any closer.

Christa: I never should have left you. I'm so sorry.

Vernon: Christa, get away from him!

Omid wakes up.

Omid: Hey. Back already?

Y/N: There you are you bastard.

Omid chuckles.

Christa: We got you medicine.

Omid: Good, feel like I could use some.

Vernon gives Omid some pills.

Omid: Where's Ben?

Christa: He didn't make it.

Omid: What happened?

Kenny: Dumb son of a bitch nearly got us all killed. Lee and Y/N stepped up and did what they had to. That's what happened.

Clem runs out of the room.

Y/N: Clemmy!

Carley: Let her go babe. She just needs some space.

Y/N: Okay.

Lee: Nice going, asshole.

Kenny: What's eating you?

Lee: Yeah, we did what I had to do. But I don't expect Clementine to understand that. Hell, I don't want her to understand it.

Kenny: You did the right thing. Trust me, she'll understand. I'm gonna go start work on the boat.

Vernon: Okay, with a little luck you should start feeling better pretty soon. I'll stay here for a few more hours to check on him. Let me know if you need anything.

Omid: Thanks, doc.

Christa: Yes, thank you so much!

Vernon: Maybe now's a good time for you, me and the kid to have a little talk. In private.

Lee, me and Vernon leave the room.

Lee: Listen, man, about what happened to Brie...

Vernon: Please, save your sympathy for someone who's buying it.

Lee: What?

Vernon: You don't think by now I've got you figured? You don't strike me as someone who has a lot of consideration for others. Look at what you did to get me to come here with you in the first place, you expect me to believe you give a shit that it wound up costing Brie her life?

Lee: Now just hold on a damn minute! Listen--

Vernon: No, you listen. You've got some good people here, and they look to you as their leader. Well, I'm here to tell you, the kind of leader you are, they're not going to make it much longer. And you're kidding yourself if you think putting them all on a boat is gonna solve anything. Now, you may not care about all of those people, but I know you care about that little girl and boy. Which is why I'm going to make you an offer.
