Sam was at her shop, getting things in order and buying stuff last minute as she was getting it ready for the grand opening that was happening on Friday.

Which was just shy of three days from then.

So she had to hustle.

Right now, Sam was the only one in the shop as she sent Pooh and Yaz to the store for some things to grab while they were out.

She was at her station, getting her makeup and things in order when the doors opened.

Looking up, Sam saw an older woman come in and thought it was an customer.

She'd had a quite few people come Into the shop wanting to get stuff done, thinking it was opened already.

"I'm sorry miss but we're closed." She called out and the lady came continued walking over.

"Is Pooh here?"

"No she just stepped out, but if you need an appointment you can just leave your name an-"

"No, I'm not a customer, I was.. I-I'm her mother, Denise." She replied and Sam eyes widened slightly, before she paused what she was doing.

Looking at her again, she saw the older woman and recognized her despite the shades she was wearing blocking most of her face.

"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't recognize you at first. I'm her friend Sam, and-"

"My son's girlfriend, yes, I remember you from the cookout." Denise cut her off, a small smile on her face and Sam nodded.

"Yeah."

"How is he?" She asked, staring down at the young girl.

"He's good, you raised him to be a good man." Sam complimented and Denise smiled sadly.

"Listen I know you probably heard, and made up your mind about me but-"

"I'm not judging you at all Denise, it's not my place too." Sam cut her off and Denise sighed.

"I wouldn't blame you if you did, I.. I'm not a good person, I chose someone who hurt me over my kids." Her voice cracked, rubbing on her clothed wrist and Sam knew that body language all too well.

"He started hitting you again didn't he?" She asked.

"And it was the last time he ever will.. I left him today. That's where I was coming from, I just wanted to share the news." Denise let a shaky breath before a tear fell down her face and Sam grabbed a tissue box from the front desk, handing it to her.

"You must think I'm an idiot."

"Trust me, I don't." Sam shook her head

"I chose a man over my kids, What type of person does that make me?"

"It makes you human, don't let the choices of your past dictate the decisions you make in the future." Sam spoke wisely, repeating words she once heard before to Denise.
