Jack's POV

I stood up and glared at Hans.

"Liar." I hissed. He finally dropped the act.

"It's about time you figured it out.Not a single girl that you've fallen in love with was really using you. I got rid of them. Every single one." He said.

"You murdered twelve innocent girls?" I asked, blood pounding in my ears.

"Thirteen now." Hans said, pointing at Elsa.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because if you die unmarried, then I'll become king." He said. I shook my head in disgust.

"You murdered thirteen girls... just so that I would die alone old and you could be king? Why not just kill me?" I asked. Hans thought for a moment.

"You know what? You're right." He said, suddenly hurling another dagger at me. I dove to the side, and the dagger sank up to its hilt in the trunk of the redwood.

I drew my sword and charged forward, and Hans did the same. We clashed again and again, swords ringing loudly. I thought I had the upper hand when I backed Hans against his horse, but he dropped to the ground and rolled under the horse and to the other side. Then the fight started again, more furious than ever. I began to lose ground until I had my back to a tree. Hans quickly disarmed me, sending my sword flying into the bushes.

"Goodbye your highness." Hans said mockingly. He raised the sword to chop my head off, and then stopped mid-swing. He looked down.

The very same dagger that had killed Elsa was now his killer.

He crumbled to the ground, and I staggered away from the tree. I felt weak, and I worked my way over to where Elsa was on the ground. I sagged to my knees beside her. Luck came over and nosed my hand.

"I'm sorry Elsa. I should have listened to you." I said. I put a hand against her cheek and closed my eyes. Suddenly, my eyes shot open. Something had brushed my hand.

I moved my hand so that it was slightly covering her nose and mouth and tried not to move. There it was again. The slightest breath of air. Elsa was still alive.

"Luck... go get the guards... go get.... help..." I said. Then I lost consciousness.

----

I slowly opened my eyes. I was in a bright room that was pure white. I was lying on a soft bed, and I was wearing a white bathrobe and white pants. One of my arms was in a sling, and my head was wrapped in a bandage.

I groaned and sat up, glancing around. I was alone in the room. A moment later, a nurse entered the room. She rushed to my side.

"Your highness! You're awake!" She exclaimed.

"Yes. What happened? Where is Elsa?" I asked.

"Your faithful dog Luck came to the castle and led a group of guards to the woods. They found you collapsed on top of the body of that girl you were with at the ball, with Hans on the ground nearby. The three of you were brought here, and the healers immediately went to work. You're the first to wake up." She explained.

"Take me to Elsa." I commanded, standing up. She gently pushed me back down.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not sure who this Elsa is. And besides, you aren't well enough to move around yet." She said.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"H-Heather Yarro." She said.

"Heather Yarro, I command you to take me to Elsa Snow, the girl that his undergoing healing right now." I said. Heather hesitated, and then gently helped me stand up.

"Alright, but only as long as you're up to it. As soon as your condition worsens, I'm bringing you straight back." Heather said. She helped my walk out the door and down the hall. After passing multiple doors, we stopped in front of a door.

"Your highness, you must understand that the young lady is in critical condition. You must not touch her or contaminate her in any way." Heather warmed. I nodded. Heather opened the door and led the way inside.
