Chapter 7: Sand Ruins and Babylon Garden

"Now, our race has reached its final stage! The remaining competitors are pacing, anxious for the race to begin. Only a few minutes left. Who will win this big event?"

They were very loud cheers and excited shoutings heard from everyone around the arena that looked like we were in Rome since there's a famous arena too called Colosseum. Wait, it was in fact an amphitheater. The heroes, along with Y/N, were currently at Sand Ruins, it was like in Egypt due to the Pyramids and other buildings in the ancient times. But it was freaking hot here! No wonder humans needed special sunscreen in order to protect themselves from the sun. She read once that Egyptians in ancient times used make-up to protect themselves from the hot days.

Amy wished and cheered Sonic a lot of luck while Knuckles was busy adding sunscreen on Y/N's exposed back. The girl couldn't help but feel like something would happen. "Hey, Knuckles? I feel like something is gonna happen but... I don't know what." She sighed.

Knuckles was surprised that he stopped rubbing for a moment before calming down and continuing. "Maybe it's just nerves, Y/N."

"Maybe..."

Knuckles finished by rubbing her back and gently kissed her on the cheek before walking with Sonic and Tails up the stares. No wonder it was like that in ancient times since there were no elevators at that time. Knuckles and Y/N held hands until they finally reached the top. Y/N was surprised. All Chaos Emeralds were here!

"And now, it's time for the final event! And it's set here... in Sand Ruins! The rules are still the same. Anything goes in this extreme race! Although it needs no further explanation, the first one to reach the goal will with this race! But remember, the prize will be won by the racer who's performed the best throughout this competition!"

Sonic stepped forward while others stayed in the back to watch the scene. Y/N watched how Sonic pulled out a beautiful yellow Chaos Emerald but before he could set it down, Jet was next to him, holding a blue one. "Hah, you're lucky you got this far. It obviously wasn't due to your skills!"

"Heh, I won't lose now!"

Y/N couldn't help but scowl at Jet's comment. Sonic was more than speed!

Later~

Damn it! Y/N's gut was right! Something bad happened! Apparently, Sonic was about to win the race until Wave, who was hiding behind a wall, pressed a red button with a smirk, causing Sonic's hoverboard to explode and lose the race! Now Jet won the competition!

Oh, boy, did Y/N scream insults at Wave and Knuckles' jaw hit the floor.

Now, Jet was currently holding a very special small blue cube and was waiting for something... He smirked once he saw that Chaos Emeralds doing the jobs and steam came through with it. They shot it in the distance, and Jet couldn't believe what he saw... From all of the sand, there came a large land out of it... the actual Babylon Garden.

That's THE Babylon Garden?! Y/N thought in shock.

"This, this is Babylon Garden... " Jet then didn't realize that a certain grabber machine grabbed the cube out of his gloved hand. It was Eggman! "Hohohohoho! Now I'll get the Treasure of Babylon!"

"Oh, no!" Amy shouted as she ran towards the machine and jumped into it, holding herself on for dear life. What was Amy doing? Trying to get the cube back?

It was time to get it back!

On the plane~

Sonic and others were above the clouds thanks to Tails who was flying the Tornado plane that was strong enough. The clouds were dark since there was maybe a storm on the loose? Tails were driving while Y/N and Knuckles were behind. The girl sat on her boyfriend's lap and he had his arms wrapped around her to keep her secure. He didn't want anything to happen to her. Sonic was on the wing by the way.

The plane was flying next to the big ship that Jet was controlling. Yes, it belonged to the Babylon Rogues.

Sonic was looking around until he caught finally Eggman. "I found you."

Before Sonic could jump. Tails quickly called out. "Wait, Sonic! Use this!" He then threw a brand new hoverboard to him. Sonic managed to catch it before it was too late. "What is it?"

"It's a new Gear I prepped up, just in case something like this happened!" Awwww...

"Thinking ahead, Tails!? Thanks!" That's when he jumped.
