"Ok, I'll bite. What the hell are you doing?" Koji leaned on the doorway

"I need to look good" I fix my hair again and stare down my jacket, "Is this too much? Or not enough?"

"I don't think I've seen you in such casual clothes in months"

"That's not answering my question. Should I have the sunglasses or no?" I double check to fix the pockets of my black jeans, "Should I have a colorful shirt? The Grey is so boring. I thought the blue button up looked good over it. Feels like it's not complimenting my wings though"

"Stop fussing. It's fine"

"Should i shave?" I run a hand over my face, "I just did yesterday but what if it's prickly?"

"Tell me the fuck is going on" Koji suddenly burst

"Oh, I'm going to court someone" I shrug

"Court? You mean date?"

"No. Court. Dating would be going out doing cute stuff. Courting I am trying to show how I am the better mating choice" I explain grabbing a toothpick to get the pepper from my chicken out of my teeth

"What makes 0 sense. That's just how you embarrass yourself"

"To you sure. To us avian types it's serious business. Think of it as the difference between someone buying you your favorite snack vs someone learning how to make it perfectly for you. It means a lot more"

Koji shook his head looking confused and defeated, "Look. I don't get this at all. But if you need anything ask"

Readers POV

"Come on sweetheart?" Rico hummed

"Hands off" I shove him away, "Sorry but no touching me at all till we are married" I glare

"We're engaged. Come on. You have some of the Plainest feathers too. You really think you can hold your head that fucking high?" He sneered

"As a matter of fact yes. Yes I can" I smile staring at my nails

The car finally stopped and I got out. My father suggested going out to the park for a date. Said I needed to learn to be less cold to him before we attend an event together.

He was out of the car and walking on without me in a second. Fucking asshole. When he did talk it was about him. God damnit.

I have argued with my father plenty over this. Even threatened to leave the country but my father assured I was caged. If I don't do this my brother will have everything worse off.

I guess on the bright side I probably won't be with this asshole for long. He'll probably leave pretty fast after.

I kept walking when he seemed all too distracted on his phone. I noticed a bright red feather in my path?

I stared curiously when it started to move. Soon enough my eyes were lead to the sky. Hawks?

He performed dives in the air and intricate flight patterns. Is he really-?

"Hey, the fuck you doing" Rico huffed grabbing my arm

I pull my arm out of his grasp with a glare, "Looks like you have a competitor" I smirk

His eyes whipped to the skys as Hawks dove towards us landing infront of us.

"And how are you this fine day?" He smirked taking my hand to lightly kiss my knuckle
