We Must Get Out of Death Valley

Chapter 10: Deceitful Matters

Pandora had observed them and when the time came she got her box that had all the stones in it and took them out. She put them into the wristbands she had on and her wardrobe changed. Her hair changed, and her eyes changed. She wore a gold chestplate and her red crown was now gold. She wore black fishnets and high heels that were gold. Her nails were gold. Her shoulder pads with spikes were gold. "I am the Empress of Evil!" "Sunrise is in 30 minutes!" Pandora yelled "In 30 minutes my spell will be complete and I will be out of this hell! But you won't!" "You all are gonna be ash by 6:31!" "You're not gonna win Pandora! We're gonna find another way out!" Jobe yelled. "You can try..." Pandora said. She walked onto the hill that was behind the castle and put her arms out. Her arms rose and the stones on the wristbands she was wearing were glowing bright. "φύλακες των μυθικών λίθων... Δεν είστε πλέον υπό τον έλεγχο της κοιλάδας του θανάτου. Αφήστε τα σώματά σας να έρθουν σε μένα.(Guardians of the Mythic Stones... You are no longer under the control of death valley. Let your bodies come to me.)" Pandora whispered. Patches of the red grass she was standing on were turning gold, and the monsters that killed all of their friends came out of them. "Είστε όλοι τώρα υπό τον έλεγχό μου!(You are all now under my control!" Pandora said. Jobe, Ava, Nene, and Elijah had already run off, but they noticed that Soterio didn't come with them. "Soterio!" Pandora yelled. "Yes Pandora..." Soterio answered. "Go find those mortals!" Pandora commanded Soterio. He went to look for them with his bow and arrow. As they walked to the lobby room they saw that the Freak was sitting on one of the couches. "Hello!" "I need to inform you guys on something!" The Freak told them. He got up and was now in front of the exit door. "What?" Ava said. "Soterio is secretly working against you! Do not trust him. He is searching for you right no-" He started gagging. Blood spilled out of his mouth as he fell to the floor, reaching out to them with his tentacle arm. There was now a pool of blood on the floor where he was laying. His head fell to the floor and his eyes were glassed over. Lifeless. Behind him was Soterio. "He was weird! Am I right?" Soterio said. "You've been working with Pandora the whole time! Why would you do this to us?" Jobe exclaimed. "Are you slow or something? Why did you think a God was part of some medieval kingdom's staff?" Soterio said while pointing his bow at them all, ready to shoot. "What do you mean you're a God?" What are you the God of?" Elijah questioned. "The God of Deliverance." Soterio answered. "That's lame." "What do you mean deliverance?" Nene asked. "I follow my master's commands." "My master is Pandora, and she told me to kill you!" He replied. "Mhm Mhm Mhm." Nene said in disapproval. "And just think..." Nene silently gripped onto a vase behind her. "We could have been something!" She said as she threw the vase at his head. "Agh!" Soterio yelled. "I'm not into older guys!" She yelled. "Girl run! Run! Run!" Nene said as she pushed everyone out of the door. Jobe saw a note in the spot where Pandora's box was for the majority of the night. He picked it up when they walked into the room just in case they had to run away from something. They ran into the graveyard and hid in the mausoleum so that they could buy some time to read the card. "You have until 6:30AM to find a new way to escape. I have something you can do. Find the 3 death scrolls hidden around the estate if you want to have a chance to survive. If Pandora completes her spell, she will use her box to destroy the world, Roqious, God of Evil has tricked her. She will release him from Limbo and the universe will wilt like a dead flower. He has limited abilities in Limbo. The reason he decided to help her was so that he could get more power from making you all suffer. You will all die at the brink of this spell. Remember that Pandora has brought back the guardians of the Mythic Stones. They are all searching for you around the estate. Soterio isn't the only thing you have to worry about. When you have found the death scrolls all the monsters will disappear because that is what Pandora is using to bring them back to life. The first death scroll is in the place where people suffer." Jobe read. "That was a lot to unpack..." Elijah said. "I think I know where the first death scroll is found! I think it's in the room Adalyn died in." Ava said. Something clawed at the stone building they were in. They all looked at each other in fear. They had locked the door to the mausoleum, but the door was made of wood, and would be easy to break down if you were an 8 foot monster who weighed half a ton. They all hid and waited for the monster to come in. As it broke through the door, they saw that it was Thusula. The first monster of tonight. Also the scariest. It should have been the last monster. That would have made it much harder for them to escape if it would have been the last monster. They were glad that that wasn't the case though. Thusula broke the door down, but couldn't fit through the doorway. they saw a trap door that led to somewhere underground. "Go through the trapdoor guys!" Jobe yelled. Thusula heard and saw them as they ran to the trapdoor and started hitting at the stone wall to break it. Nene went down first, then Ava, Then Jobe, and then Elijah. When Ava went down she had accidentally scraped herself with a loose piece of wood. The monster broke the wall and went into the mausoleum. The floors in the mausoleum were made of wood planks so when Thusula stood on them they broke. It was right behind them. Snapping it's claws at them as the four of them made their way through the hallway. They remembered what Angelina said it had done to Matt and did not want to suffer the same fate as him. The hallway led to the basement in the house and made their way up its many stairs. They went through the basement doors and bolted to the lobby room to go through the exit door that had a concrete path to the circus. Ava and Elijah got through the door, but Thusula threw one of the couches at the door. Blocking Nene and Jobe in. They were cornered. There was only one thing they could do next. They crawled under Thusula's legs and made their way to the others while screaming. Thusula lost them. Pandora was shooting energy at the top of the forcefield to get it open. There were already cracks in it. Her spell was working, and there were only about 21 minutes left for them to escape. They went into the circus tent and then headed to the room with Adalyn's dead body in it. It already started to stink and there were flies eating at her skin and flesh, decomposing her body. It was so traumatizing for them to see. They noticed something. There was a piece of paper that was rolled up and had a red band on it that sealed it shut in Adalyn's lifeless hand. It had flies on it and you could see some of it's flesh. "I am not touching that thing." Nene said. Jobe reached to grab it and then pulled it out. It was the first Death Scroll. It smelt very fowl. In another spot of the room was a note. Ava picked it up to read it. "The second Death Scroll is where the sun will rise, the area where you take away life. What Rhymes with Tarah?" "Lets go to the graveyard!" Elijah yelled. They ran to the graveyard and realized that they didn't know where to go to find the little scroll. "Wait, where in the graveyard? Are there any clues on the card?" Ava asked. "Well that thing that said, 'What rhymes with Tarah?' might be a clue." Jobe said. "Maybe there's a name on one of the gravestones that rhymes with Tarah?" Nene said. "Yes! Look at the names on all of the gravestones!" Jobe said. They looked around, eventually finding the scroll on the shoveled dirt of the gravestone with the name Sarah on it. They saw Pandora in the sky. She was shooting gold energy to the top of the forcefield, making cracks at the top. She was laughing and shouting something in Greek: "Χρησιμοποιώντας τη δύναμη των μυθικών λίθων, σπάστε τον τοίχο. The place she was shooting at was getting more cracks, and looked like it was starting to tear open. Her box was next to her And it's red eyes were glowing like usual. They saw another monster walking into the graveyard this time. It was Dracula. Ava had bled from the scrape she got when going down the trapdoor and he smelt it, tracking them down. He looked at them and hissed. It started to rain. Thunder made the ground shake. It struck in front of them. Making a loud noise that made their ears ring. When they got up Ava was gone, and so was Dracula. "I'm gonna get Ava! She can't die, we're too close to leaving this place!" Jobe yelled. "I'm coming with you!" Nene said. "Elijah, do you want to?" Jobe asked. "No, I'm gonna find the gravestone with the Second Death Scroll on it." Elijah said. Nene Nene and Jobe left to go find Ava. They went inside and went into the lobby room. Nene picked up the stake they used earlier to kill la Llorona. Then they walked the stairs of the East Wing. "Girl, I'ma kill Dracula when we find him cause he's really fake for not wanting me." Nene said. "He is literally trying to kill us!" Jobe yelled. "You think that'll stop me?" "If I'm being honest, no." "Exactly." Nene held the stake in her hand like a killer holds a knife. Dracula was taking Ava to a room they didn't see earlier. Nene ran at Dracula in her heels as she fell to the ground. Dracula heard the noise and smiled as he saw Nene. Nene smiled back and got up in a hurry, remembering what she needed to do. She took off her heels this time and then charged at Dracula again. This time she tripped on purpose right in front of him. "Oh goodness! I have fallen! It's the perfect time for someone to bite me on my neck!" Nene yelled dramatically. Dracula let go of Ava. He went to bite Nene as Ava ran to take the stake from Nene's hand. She took it and stabbed Dracula in his back, the stake piercing through his heart again like it did about 1 hour ago. He fell onto Nene and a big smile appeared on her face as she ran her hands through his hair. "Get up!" Ava yelled as she dragged Nene upwards. "He tried to kill both of us!" Ava screamed. "He was cute?" Nene replied. They walked back down the stairs. "Why did he not bite you?" Jobe asked. "I think he smelt the anti-venom in me so he was just gonna take me and stab me or something? I don't know." They went back to the graveyard and saw ELijah with the second death scroll in his right hand and a notecard in his left hand, waiting for them. Pandora knew that she had to do something else to stun them, she flew to the ground... and thought up the most vicious monster that she could think of. She flew down to the ground real quick, energy still shooting out of her body, breaking the force field around Death Valley. Next to Pandora was something coming out of the ground. It was big. As it became whole it flew up into the sky. It was a blood red color. It had horns on its head and on the sides of its jaw. It had sharp teeth and its moth looked like it had been cut open, but there was no blood. It made it look like it was always smiling. Its head was pointy and its eye holes were hollow with an orange light inside. Its arms looked like giant rocks, and it used them to walk because they touched the ground when he was standing up. Its teeth were very sharp. Like giant needles. It was about 30 feet tall and about 16 feet wide. It made the ground shake as it walked, and there was now something else they had to worry about. They ducked down behind a gravestone and Elijah read the notecard that was in his hand. "If you want to find the last death scroll, you will have to go down all the stairs of the basement to reach the dungeon. In there is a box of spikes. Find the doll and put it into the box, you will then close it, and the Death scroll will be dispensed out of the bottom of it." They ran into the house and opened the doors of the basement. The giant red monster that had appeared earlier broke the wall of the houses entrance and walked inside, chasing them. It couldn't fit into it so it used one of its abilities to turn into a centipede-like monster that could crawl on the walls. It had a long tongue that was stretching at the four of them trying to kill them. They made it down after pushing a bookshelf in front of the monster that stunned him. Guarding the spike box was Dolly. The box was wide open, ready for Dolly to be pushed in, but they could hear the monster coming down the stairs. They had to be quick. Nene pulled the hook off of Dolly's hand and shoved her into the box. They shut it and she screamed. The bottom of the box opened up and the last death scroll was inside. Jobe grabbed it and held it up in the air. "We did it!" "We can finally leave!" He yelled. The vibrations of the monster coming down the stairs stopped. All the monsters had disappeared. A note fell from the ceiling. "There is one more task at hand. The one with the most skill in magic will have to read and recite the text on the death scrolls. They will be granted immense power that will give you the ability to kill Pandora. When you kill her, you will take the stones from her and put them into the entrance sign. Good luck." Ava read. "Ava." Jobe said. "Yeah, she literally brought me back to life." "She's the most skilled with magic." Nene said. "Okay I guess I'll do it. Let's go kill this witch." Ava said.
They walked outside and saw that it was still raining, they thought that it would have stopped sooner when it started earlier.. They were all wet, not soaking wet, but still wet. When they were inside Ava had looked over all the death scrolls, memorizing them. "Hey Pandora!" Ava yelled. "What do you want, mortal?" Pandora said, still shooting energy into the sky. The forcefield now had a tiny opening in it, and it was opening more and more. "What do you think you're going to do to me? You're powerless without the mythic stones." Pandora said again. Ava put her arms and hands to the side and made the death scrolls levitate in front of her in the air. "Oh no..." Pandora said. "People with no powers always ruin everything!" She made a giant ball of her power and set it down so that she could fight Ava and still be making the rift open up. "With the power of life and death, give me the power, Thanata, give me the power with your spirit!" Ava said. Every time you say the chant, you will become more powerful. She kept on saying it. Her and Pandora flew into the sky. "You can do this Ava!" Jobe yelled. Ava blasted magic at Pandora, Pandora also blasted magic at her. There was a white orb in between both of their blasts of energy. A pink fire crown appeared on top of Ava's head. Her eyes glowed a light blue color. Ava's beam of electricity got closer and closer to Pandora, and she started panicking. Pandora was putting everything in this, but it didn't work. The white orb scooted towards Pandora and hit her chest. A bright light emitted from the white orb and then it exploded. Everyone was pushed back from the blast. The light cleared and they all got up. Except for Pandora. She was gone at last. "You did it Ava..." Jobe said as he got up. They all looked towards Pandora's dead body, admiring it. They had killed the one who killed all their friends. Jobe went down to take off Pandora's wristbands when Pandora sat up and grabbed the blade from the back of her belt. "Jobe!" Nene yelled. "Agh!" Pandora yelled. Ava, Elijah, and Nene ran over to them. Pandora lifted up her arm and stabbed Jobe in his heart. She smiled as she stuck the blade into him. "I had to do this... How could I let you go?" Jobe grabbed at his chest, coughing up blood as he fell to the ground, lifeless. His blood soaked into the soil below him, residing there forever. Nene ran towards Pandora and took the blade from her hand, stabbing her 15 times in her chest. Pandora and Jobe were both gone forever, their blood mixing together in the soil below them.
They took the wristbands off of Pandora to take the stones out and take them to be put into the entrance. Ava still had the Pink Fire Crown on her head. As they put each stone in, the forcefield started to disappear, and they walked out when it was fully gone. The ball of power Pandora made had disappeared when she died so they didn't have to worry about that. They were happy that they had escaped, but sad that Jobe and Ella, and all their other friends died. In front of them all was a note. Ava wiped her tears and then picked it up to read it. "Open the box." Ava said. She sniffled. "Is that all it says?" Elijah asked. "Yeah." Ava replied. They turned around to see a box at the entrance of the estate. "Should we open it one last time?" Nene asked. "I guess so." Elijah said. Nene opened it and black smoke reached out of it. "What's going on?" Ava questioned. The smoke grabbed them and pulled them inside of the box. Pandora's Box. It looks like their long, long journey isn't over yet.
