Chapter 33

I'll keep trying to win her heart. Even though the she already have to deal with two boys. I will still try to win her over. Maybe she'll see that I'm the best one out of them. Then Y/N L/N will be mine.

-The Second Task: The Black Lake-

Y/N P.O.V

I'm sitting on the bench, reading a book as it is now break time. My mind suddenly went back to Narnia. I wonder how the others are doing. Peter, Susan and Lucy. Just thinking about them, made me miss them so much.

"Hey, Y/N..." someone said. I turn my head and see it's Jacob. I smile softly at him. "Hey, Jacob..." I said, in a soft voice. He smiles and takes a seat next to me.

"What are you reading there?" He asked. I turn to my book. "Hermione lends it to me... it's a muggle book" I said. "Muggle? Hmm..." he said. "Why?" I said. "Oh... it's nothing. I've never read a muggle book before. My parents didn't let me..." he said. I just let out a hum at his comment.

"What's the story about?" He said. "It's just a love story..." I said. "Love story? Does it have magic in them?" He asked. "Love itself have magic in its own way... love can unite two completely different people into one" I said. He just stare at me.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" I said. He shakes his head and smiles at me. "Just the way to speak about love. I agree with you... love is magic. I hope that it'll be able to bring us together" he said. I blink in surprise at what he said. I look at him with a surprise expression.

"Us?" I said. He smiles at me and nods his head. He gently place a hand on top of mine. "I really like you, Y/N..." he said. I just stare at him, not knowing what to say. We haven't talked to each other, we've only just get to know each other during the Yule Ball.

"You barely know me..." I said. He let out a sigh and removes his hand from mine. "Yeah... I'm totally aware of that. But you just intrigued me..." he said. "In what way?" I said. "Every way possible... your smile. The way you speak... how you handle things" he said.

"Will you give me a chance? I know you have those two boys that's already been fighting for you since day one. But can't you give me a chance too? Maybe I'll be able to prove myself to you that I'm the better match" he said. I look away from him.

"I don't know..." I said, in a hushed voice. But loud enough for him to hear. He lets out a sigh and nod his head. "Yeah... I shouldn't have expected that you will accept me, when I've just known you since the Yule Ball. Especially since those two boys have been trying everything they can to gain your affection, and they've known you longer" he said.

"I'm sorry, Jacob..." I said. He shakes his head and smiles softly at me. "It's alright, Y/N. It's my fault for letting myself hope too high. I just hope that maybe it didn't matter who knows you longer. I thought that I'd actually stand a chance in this battle. I'm so sorry for being so naive..." he said. I just give him an apologetic smile.

I can see sadness in his eyes. He lets out a sigh as he runs his hand through his hair. "I should probably go... best of luck on the second task..." he said. He stands up. He's about to leave, but my heart start to ache at the way he stares at me.

"Jacob, wait!" I said, standing up just as he's about to walk away. He stops walking and turns to look at me. "Yeah?" He said. Oh Aslan, I hope I won't regret this.

"I'll... I'll give you a chance..." I said. His eyes lit up at what I said. "Y-You'll give m-me a chance? R... R-Really?" He said. I smile and not my head. He starts to grin. He speeds walks towards me. He wraps his arms around my waist. He picks me up and spins me around. I let out a yelp as I clutch onto his shoulders for support.

"Okay! Okay! I'm getting dizzy, Jacob! Put me down, please" I said. He lets out a laugh and gently place me back on my feet. He wraps his arms around me, pulling me closer to his chest. I lean my head against his chest, with my arms around his torso.

"You won't regret it, Y/N..." he said. I just stay silent and close my eyes. I truly hope I wont regret this. I can't believe I actually agreed on giving Jacob this chance.

Today is the day of the second task. We are walking to the boats that will take us to the podium in the middle of the Black Lake. I'm walking in silence. I can't see Jacob anywhere. I haven't seen him since dinner, after Professor Snape escorts him away.

I turn to look at the water. Maybe he's down there. I remember the golden egg, and I was right about it being a mermaid's song. The song said something about something precious to me being stolen. Guess I'll figure it out when I enter the water.

I jump inside the water once the signal is shot. I take a deep breath I fall into the water. I close my eyes as I focus on my magic, letting it flow through my body. My leg slowly turns into fish tail, turning me into a mermaid.

I start to swim deeper into the water, trying to look for the precious thing that is taken from me. In the distance I can see people being tied up. I was right, the thing that is stolen is someone we hold dear and it's Jacob for me.

I quickly swim towards him. I take out my wand and points it at the vine that is tied around his ankle. I wrap his arm around my shoulder and swim towards the surface.

Jacob take a sharp inhale. We slowly swim towards the podium. Jacob is the first to get on it. He offers me a hand and pulls me up. He gently wraps a towel around my shoulder.

"You did it, Y/N... you're the third one to finish this task. Diggory and Krum did it before you" he said. I just smile softly. He wraps his arms around me. In the end, the only one that didn't pass to the final task is Fleur Delacour. Which means, me, Harry, Cedric and Victor made it to the final.
