Shizuo's eyes narrowed as he curled his hand around the informant's tiny neck, not understanding why he hesitated for the slightest second. "Tsk, yeah, that's right, I'm not like you. I don't take pleasure in other people's misfortunes because I hate how I am, but you? You're the exact damn opposite, you manipulative asshole. Fortunately for you, I don't see the point in killing you when you're not even awake." Shizuo reluctantly withdrew his hand and grabbed Izaya's arm to pull him into a sitting position. Turning around, he pulled the informant onto his back and stood up. "I guess whoever it was that Shinra asked me to warn you about a couple of weeks ago got to you in the end." Shizuo grinned. "Good." He was surprised when he found it much easier to control his anger around Izaya when he wasn't smirking arrogantly at him or running his mouth off trying to provoke him.
Fearful of getting noticed, Shizuo shuffled with the injured man through the alleyway and out the other side onto a nearby pavement and sighed with frustration when he knew they were nowhere near the hospital and didn't want Izaya to wake up until they'd gotten there, and he was out of sight. If he chose to walk, people would start asking questions, and that's how rumors spread. "I'm not gonna give you something else to pin me with." Shizuo merely wanted to prove to himself more than anyone that he wasn't the monster other people claimed he was. Shizuo really couldn't help his strength, he couldn't control his anger, but this weird act of compassion for the informant was nothing but a test to himself because he would love to see the raven dead.
Shizuo decided to flag a cab down because he would prefer it if Izaya didn't die on him right now.
Shizuo threw Izaya in the cab first and slid in beside him. "Where are you heading to-" The sight caused the driver to start freaking out. "Hey! I don't want any trouble! Whatever happened between the two of you, I don't want to be involved."
Shizuo gritted his teeth, clenching his fists, but he understood why the driver was worried. The blood on Izaya and his shirt did nothing to help, and Shizuo became angry as the man just jumped straight to one assumption. "I wasn't the cause of his injury, you nosy bastard." It was probably his fault Izaya had collapsed in the first place. "Just take me to the damn hospital and shut your mouth." Shizuo could have punched himself. "Please."
"Right," the driver stuttered.
The driver probably didn't believe a word he said, and Shizuo knew Izaya would back up the driver's statement if he decided to go to the police, framing him for something he didn't do once again. "I hate you," he told the unconscious man next to him.
When they reached the hospital, Shizuo noticed Izaya's pale features, dragged him out, and lifted him onto his back again, grumbling about paying the cab driver.
When Shizuo walked through the automatic doors, a couple of nurses instantly turned their attention. Shizuo suddenly felt extremely awkward; what should he do now? What should he say? "Where shall I put him?" The words came out less caring than he would have liked for a situation like this. "Uh... he's lost a lot of blood." Better. If he showed minor concern, they wouldn't question him, right? Besides, his brother was an actor, and Shizuo didn't spend all those years with him without learning a few little tricks.
A bed was rushed toward them, and Shizuo threw Izaya on it slightly more gently than he had thrown him in the car. The doctor took off the informant's jacket and wheeled him into a private cubical. Shizuo had no idea why he felt obligated to follow, but he needed - or rather wanted - to explain himself. "I found him like this," he told them quickly. That part was technically true. The doctor merely nodded, and Shizuo figured it was okay to leave. They seemed satisfied with his statement, and he really didn't want to hang around longer than he had to. If Izaya died now, it wouldn't be his problem, right?
