I laugh with my friends in the back and look around the bus. I quickly glance at Nathan occasionally. A girl can get curious!

I look up again and we lock eyes.

I clear my throat and pretend to laugh at what my friend said.

Ten minutes and two stops later, the bus finally reaches my stop.

I grab my bag and jog up to the front saint goodbye to everyone, and say, "Thanks Earl," and hop off.

The bus doors close, and he starts to drive away. But then he stops the bus a few seconds later and I turn around curiously.

The doors open again and out comes Nathan.

I breathe out in disbelief.

Offff course.

He looks at me and scowls.

I stomp away upset that I share a school with him. The same stop. The same NEIGHBORHOOD. The same COUNTRY! Well, maybe not country, but a lot of people can get on my nerves, but he struck a nerve the SECOND he started speaking.

That's a new record.

I quickly walk home…I don't want him to follow me.

I hop up my steps two at a time, open the door, and slam it closed.

I open and happen to look through my window because it was hot inside, and I see him make eye contact and mock salute at me.

I slam the window shut and push the curtains in front of them.

I HATE HIM!

I go upstairs and into my room and blast my music.

It helps me relax.

More than an hour later, my mom texts me:

'Turn down the music, the neighbors are complaining.'

Which is funny actually, considering we don't have any neighbors within around 50 feet of us, since we live in a gated community and there is acres of land in between each mansion. And either way, the surrounding neighbors are away for vacation.

I sigh frustrated and annoyed, and throw my phone face down on the bed next to me.

A few seonds later, another ding;

'Get downstairs and shut off the music. NOW.'

I can hear her voice in my head and I violently shake my head to get her out of it. I shut off my music with an angry  slam, and stomp downstairs.

"WHAT?" I ask, on the verge of screaming.

"Your tone..." She warns.

My mom has a thing for making polite. It honestly just get me more upset.

I roll my eyes, but then contain my posture, put the best smile on my face, and say, "Yes mother? How was your day?" In a polite tone.

"Why thank you for asking!" She says back like I actually meant the question sincerly. I resist the urge to roll my eyes again. "My day was quite busy. I've realized something about Jay Parker's case."

"Oh, that's good. What is it?" I ask, starting to get a little interested.

"Oh, sorry honey, that's confidential." She says, almost smirking.

I swear, she loves doing that to me. She loves testing me. ONE DAY I WON'T BE ABLE TO CONTROL MYSELF!

"Alright then." I say in a tight voice. "I'm hungry. I guess I'll just make myself pasta." I say in a monotone.
