Time Travel?..... You're kidding (Winteriron)

Chapter 5

December 16, 1991

It was d-day.

Tony and Rhodes had prepared for this to come and it was finally the due date.

Even though Tony was convinced he was going to save his parent at first, his choice had to change afterwards. If you think about it, there would be too many changes for Tony to continue predicting anything that's to come.

Even though it hurt, he had to let go. This was meant to happen. Even though he could just change it he found peace with it.

He and Rhodey had already set up somewhere near the road, a little more into the forest.

It was still early and the two of them were waiting for night to come. Previously, he would have said goodbye to his parents but this time around, there was no time for that.

"You think this is a good idea?" Rhodes asked him worriedly.

"It's the best shot we got. We can only hope that this goes right." A shiver passed through his body involuntarily. Rhodes put an arm around his shoulders and squeezed giving him all the comfort he could.

Couple of hours later they heared something rustle in the bushes. It was nearly undetectable. The Winter Soldier. He had finally arrived.

They remained hidden and didn't move an inch as no matter how quiet they walked they'd be discovered.

A little later the man got onto a motorbike and made his way down the road, which prompted the two to follow. They arrived just as the Winter Soldier let go of Marias throat.

Tony involuntarily flinched and couldn't contain a wince. That was not the best course of action because they were heared.

Oh shit.

Rhodey tried to push his best friend behind him as protection but Tony wouldn't let him. He knew the trigger words so he had to do it.

Both Tony and the Winter Soldier slowly walked towards each other. One with the intent to kill the other with the intent to save.

With every step, Tony recited one of the trigger words and the farther he got the slower the Winter Soldier became.

Finally when they were infront of each other and the last Trigger Word was said they stood still. The Soldier had a knife at Tonys throat.

"Ready to comply."

Tony sighed in relief and pushed the knife down with one hand. He turned to his best friend smiling, although a little tearily.

His best friend rushed to his side and was about to hug him when he collided with a solid wall. He looked up to see that the Winter Soldier had shoved Tony behind him and was towering over him.

"Asset! Stand down. He is an Ally." Tony hated using the name but knew he couldn't reach the man in front of him otherwise.

The Winter Soldier glanced back at him and finally stepped away. Rhodey eyed him one more time before barreling into his best friend.

"You stupid fucking idinius." He squeezed the air out of him.

Tony tapped at his arm, rapidly loosing the Oxygen in his body. "-rhod-ey.. C-an't.. oxy-Gen!"

Rhodes finally let go of him and just stared at him. He sighed and let the matter fall away.

"So what now?" His best friend asked.

"How about you call the cops. James and I get back to the villa. And after you report to the police you meet up with us?" Tony offered.

Rhodes was contemplating if it was a good idea to leave the Winter Soldier with his brother but ultimatly decided that this was his only choice if they didn't want to be suspicious.
