Imogen Halstead (age 8)
Word count: 1984

Jays POV

The day seems to be dragging in, and all I want is to get home to Imogen.  She's been dying to show me her new favourite toy ever since this morning, but unfortunately work dragged me away from home before she even woke up.  I sigh and lounge back in my chair before hank strolls through the bullpen, with a file in his hands, "suit up, we're busting Torres now. He just moved the money" he waltz's straight into his office without looking at anyone.

We've been stood by this warehouse for the past half hour, and not once has anyone entered or exited the building.  I'm starting to think voights CI tipped us off.  I'm stationed at the back entrance, haileys at the from with the rest of the team.  All seems to be going well, everything's in place and there's no worries as of yet.

With my mind solely on getting through the day, I'm not really focusing on what's behind me, until I feel a hand reaching around my throat.  I struggle in this man's grasp before a damp cloth is placed over my nose and mouth, within two seconds, I'm on the floor... darkness.

Imogen's POV

School sucks! Who cares about fractions? Or times tables? All I want to do is show jay my new toy! I was going to show him before school this morning, but like most mornings, I woke up and he was already gone. Will told me I can show him tonight, but I'm too impatient for that.

I'm sat on the carpet in front of my teacher when the school bell rings loudly, "Imogen, you can leave since you're sat so nicely" Miss brown looks down at me. I always play that card, quiet and still, and I'm always let out of the classroom first. It works every time!

It's also my birthday next week! I asked Will if we could go swimming and he said that my birthday party's going to be a surprise, but I really hope we go swimming.  Jay says I'm a water baby, whatever that means...

I hum a tune as I wander up the school hill, waiting for Will to pick me up at the top.  I wonder how many steps it takes me to get up this hill?  One... two... three... four... five... six... sev- I'm instantly snapped out of thought when I walk into someone, dang' it... they messed it up!

As I look up with a frown on my face I see a man, much taller than me, staring down with a smug look on his face, "your brother asked me to pick you up today, he got caught up at work..." he sighs.  I narrow my eyes at him, "that's not true, my brothers told me that one of them will always pick me up. I'm not supposed to talk to strangers" I cross my arms against my chest.  Who does this guy think he is?

"Not today kid, he got stuck at work and sent me to pick you up" the man shrugs.  I shake my head, "which brother?" I enquire.  The man chuckles, "will" he nods confidently.  I look around and sigh, "what's the safe word?" I stick my nose in the air.  If Will really did send this man to pick me up, he'd know our safe word.  The man rubs his chin, "you're full of questions, huh?" he sighs.  I stand my ground, "tell me the safe word or I'm not coming with you" I drop my arms to my sides.

"Platypus" he raises an eyebrow.  I look up at him again, "oh..." is all I manage to say.  Maybe Will did send this man to pick me up.  That is our safe word, I chose it after Perry the platypus.  I sigh and nod, "okay then..." I follow the man.  As he leads me up up the rest of the hill I resume my counting, eight....
