Imogen's POV

It's currently 6:43pm, and I'm on my way home from the mall.  My dad called and said he wouldn't be able to pick me up, but if I waited a little longer Will would come and get me instead, although of course I insisted.  I can walk home... I'm fifteen years old... He eventually agreed, much to his dismay, so here I am.

I never walk with my earbuds in, given that I fear someone will run up behind me and mug me without me hearing them. Therefore I am kicking a stone alone the path, praying I don't miss it, and... I miss it. That's embarrassing on my behalf...

I look down when I feel my phone vibrate in my hand, huh?

What on earth is an AirTag? My curiosity beats me and before I know it I'm already clicking on the notification

What?! I don't even know what an air tag is let alone have one on me? I wouldn't even know what I'm looking for

What?! I don't even know what an air tag is let alone have one on me? I wouldn't even know what I'm looking for... I sigh and begin searching through my bag after looking up what an air tag actually is on google.  I cannot for the life of me see one...

I continue my walk home, only this time I pick my speed up.  Something isn't sitting quite right with me.  I make it no more than 200 yards before the same notification comes through again... And that's when I know, that somebody is following me.  I pick up my pace even more if that's even possible and I pull up my dads number, praying he answers.
Dad: "you home yet?"
Me: "not yet, but I think someone's following me..."
Dad: "slow down darling, what's going on?"
Me: "my phone says that I have an air tag on me, but I can't find it. Someone keeps pinging my location"
Dad: "alright honey, you're gonna tell me where you are and I want you to grab your purse and phone out of your bag, just leave the rest in the bag. Leave your bag in an alley way along with your jacket. Get to the nearest store and stay inside until I get there"
Me: "okay, I can do that"
Dad: "good girl, I'm on my way"

I scramble to quickly do everything my dad mentioned before running towards the nearest 7/11 store in the corner.  I dip inside and find my way to a bench inside.  My heart rate doesn't seem to slow down...

Jays POV

"She said she left them in this alley..." I jump out of the truck as Hailey follows suit.  I quickly approach the alley to see Imogen's bag scattered across the floor, her jacket tossed somewhere and then I see the smashed up air tag, "whoever was following her must've panicked" I sigh. I look around for the store Imogen was hiding out in, before I finally spot it across the road.

As I push my way through the door I immediately spot Imogen sat on a chair behind the till, tear stains down her cheeks, "are they gone?" She stands up and quickly walks into my arms. I hug her tightly, "yeah, they're gone. It's okay now" I rub her back. Hailey appears behind me with Imogen's bag and jacket in her hands, "I checked the area, there's no one around" she smiles weakly. Imogen sighs, "I didn't know what was going on" she looks up at me. I wipe her cheeks, "it's alright, you did the right thing. I'm proud of you, kiddo" I nod. She smiles weakly, "I wanna stay with you" she walks back into my arms. I nod, "we're going home now" she immediately relaxes.

"Ni'night, I love you" I plant a kiss onto Imogen's head. She grabs my arm before I can leave her proximity, I turn around in confusion to see the fear in her eyes, "please stay, at least until I fall asleep?" She pleads through a whisper. I smile and nod, "of course" she scoots over to let me lay down. I brush her hair out of the way, "nobody's gonna hurt you" I rest my chin on top of her head. She sighed contently and nods, quickly falling asleep. Keep being you, kiddo...
