"Thanks," Emma gave Matt a grateful smile as she grabbed her bag before getting out of his truck, he had dropped her off at the Gilbert's house.

"Is everything okay?" He asked.

Emma sighed, she had hoped she had kept her annoyance at Sage to herself, "Yeah, everything is fine Matt, I promise."

"Okay," he didn't question her further, "I'll see you around."

Emma nodded and stepped down onto the sidewalk, she put her hands in her pockets as she walked up the walkway to the door. She didn't bother to knock, instead choosing to just enter.

"Hey Em," Alaric greeted her from the couch, he had a notepad in his hand.

Emma sat down across from him, "How are you feeling?"

Alaric shrugged but then handed the notepad to Emma, "Listen, I want you to have this. This is a list of my bank accounts, passwords, where to find my will, just in case this doesn't go my way."

She stared down at the pad in disbelief, "You're not allowed to think like that Ric."

"I just need to know that if anything happens, you're going to be okay."

Emma shook her head and tried to hand him the paper back, "I don't want this."

Alaric sat back in his chair as she set it on the table, "Sam Winchester has a copy too."

"Well, good for him. If the two of you want to give up then fine, I can figure this out on my own. I can save you on my own."

"Emma-"

"No!" She shouted, "I already have to figure out how I'm supposed to accept the fact that I am going to outlive everyone I love, I don't need that process sped up!"

"It's just in case Emma," Alaric tried to explain.

Before Emma could speak again Elena walked in smiling widely, "Bonnie thinks she can help, but she needs a personal item that you wore before you started wearing the ring."

"Uh," Alaric racked his brain, "there is my wedding ring, it's at the apartment."

Alaric started to get up to come with the girls to hunt for his wedding band, but Meredith entered the room from the kitchen and stopped him.

"I think it's better if you stay here, with me," she suggested.

Alaric sighed as he sat back down, "Its in the dresser by the kitchen, in an aspirin bottle probably covered in cobwebs."

Emma and Elena nodded as they both grabbed their bags and Elena grabbed her car keys.

As they walked up the stairs Emma glanced over to her old apartment, a young woman was coming out of it. The apartment had just sold last week and its new tenant seemed happily oblivious to the gore that was once inside. Elena put a hand on Emma shoulder, which brought Emma's mind back to the task at hand. Stefan was waiting for them at Alaric's door.

"Missed you guys at the house, Alaric told me you would be here," he explained.

Elena crossed her arms, "You made yourself perfectly clear this morning, you don't want to be around me."

Emma walked past both of them and unlocked Alaric's door, she entered the apartment as the two of them followed her.

"I'm not trying to hurt you Elena, I just can't be who you want me to be right now, I'm not in control," Stefan tried to ease the situation.

"Then why are you here?" Emma asked as she searched through a drawer.

"I did a little more digging on Samantha Gilbert, Founding families were always pretty good about destroying their records, but I found a couple of newspaper articles. It seemed she killed two people while she was in the institution," Stefan explained, "a nurse and a guard."
