Subject 9

Part 5: Audra and James

 "Thanks for coming with me," Nine murmured. 

"Your welcome I mean I've been trying to get out for three years and you figured it out in like two weeks so you must be pretty smart" Five assured. 

"Yeah, I mean they probably would have caught me if you weren't here because of your speed. You've really been in there three years?" Nine asked sadly because she was miserable with the terrible food and lumpy beds. I can't imagine being in there for three years. "Yeah, I hated it. How's your cut?" Five asked 

"Good, I probably cut it on a piece of glass when I broke through." Nine said then they walked in silence for a while. Nine guessed they'd been out of the lab for a few hours and the first sign of daylight was showing. 

"Look the sun is coming out" Nine said excitedly hoping it would get warmer because Five looked really cold she wondered why she wasn't. 

Wow, I haven't seen it since I've been in the lab." Five said. They stopped on the side of the road to eat some food and drink some water when Nine heard running water and she randomly stood up and Five asked 

"Where are you going?"

 "Shhh" Nine hushed him so Five followed leaving their food and saw where Nine was going. There was a small creek right there and Nine was using the water to clean her face and the dry blood from her cut 

"Can you go back and get my backpack?" Nine asked so Five walked back to where they left their food and there were two other kids there eating and drinking their food and water he hurried back to Nine before they saw him 

"There are two kids eating our food." 

"What!" Nine yelled angrily 

"Be quiet they might hear you" Five warned her in a quiet voice but Nine was already walking back to their backpack.s 

"Hey, what are you doing?" Nine yelled at the two kids as they stood up and said "Is this stuff yours?" They said mockingly. 

"Yes, now get away from it before I blast you" Nine warned in an angry voice with Five behind her. These kids looked a little older than Five and her. Nine guessed her and Five were the same age. 

"Hah, little girl thinks she can scare us" The boy laughed when Nine's hands and arms burst into flames the kid's eyes widened and they backed up 

"Calm down, no one needs to get hurt" Five tried to calm Nine down 

"Well if they don't back up they're asking for it" Nine snapped and walked toward their backpacks she stopped the fire and started packing up their backpacks and threw the half-eaten food away she got bandage put it on her arm and Five walked over when the girl questioned them 

"Who are you and where did you come from." 

"We came from-" Five started. Nine grabbed his arm and turned the opposite direction of the boy and girl 

"What are you doing? We can't trust these people or tell where we came from. They will think we're crazy." Nine whispered 

"They probably already think you are crazy." Five chuckled and Nine punched his arm, she was not amused. Nine turned around and demanded 

"You first." The kids exchanged looks and the girl started talking 

"I'm Audra and he's James we thought we were the only people left except for that stupid lab." 

"What do you mean the only people left?" Five asked, confused.

"You really don't know, basically aliens landed on Earth and started killing everybody. We survived somehow but barely and not movie aliens either. They were really ugly tall and fat with a bunch of eyes." James explained. 

"This must have been why they were training us in the lab to fight off the aliens." Five quessed, a little too loudly 

"You two are from the lab and what do you mean training you?" The boy asked. Nine looked at Five with an ice cold stare. 

"Sorry" was all he could manage. 

"Well there's no going back now" Nine rolled her eyes and explained everything that she could about the lab and what they did there. 

"Wow, and you can really make  control fire because that could be useful in a fight against the aliens." The boy asked, 

"Yeah, want to see." Nine asked as she stood up and she made a small fire ball in her hand and shot fire at a nearby tree then sat back down. Everyone looked shocked and a little scared even Five who had seen it before. 

"Well, if you want you could come with us. We know good hiding spots; there are some abandoned houses with warm beds." Audra offered that sounded great to Five and Nine because they both wanted somewhere to stay.
