"what?! someone was following you?!" minho loudly exclaimed in shock out of nowhere, loud enough to draw people's attention around them.
changbin didn't say anything else as he only nodded, nervously biting his lips in response. after what happened that night, it wasn't a lie that he couldn't stop worrying about it which resulted in him not sleeping that well last night.
especially knowing that the stalker is probably still lurking around the dorms. changbin wouldn't dare to go out again in the dark, alone. when something bad could happen to him.
"yeah... and i was so scared," changbin sadly frowned, unable to stop thinking about it. how could he forget the terror he felt that night? even until now, it still remained in him. "i don't know who that was but i could hear their footsteps getting closer and closer and-"
"changbin," minho interrupted while pulling him close, soon embracing him into a hug. "it's okay, at least you're safe and sound."
"i shouldn't have stayed at the library this late." changbin hugged back, feeling the warmth radiating from him. "i'm gonna start avoiding walking back alone."
minho only pulled away with a smile, nodding in understanding. "yeah, that's a good idea. especially when there was another murder last night."
the moment changbin heard that, he froze. what did he mean by that? there was another murder last night? since when? how did he not know about this until now?
"another murder?" he asked, curiosity taking over him. "wait, what? what happened? where did it happen and when?"
"it was around 12am. you know that cafe we would pass by when walking back to the dorms?" minho asked, making changbin nod. "yeah, a woman was murdered at that cafe, the one like 15 minutes away from here."
this made changbin widen his eyes in shock, unable to process what he'd just heard. that was like half an hour after he'd got back, and this happens? just why does this have to happen?
"which means," minho explained. "the murderer could literally be so much closer than we thought. way closer."
"d-do you think, the person who stalked me..." changbin quietly whimpered at the thoughts of it. "do you think it was the same murderer who killed that woman?"
minho could only shrug, not knowing the answer himself. "i don't know but it's possible. seeing as the cafe was so close to where you were. maybe the murderer stopped trying to kill you and went for there instead."
changbin felt his breath hitch at his words, more fear building up inside of him. why is the murderer doing this? what if minho was telling the truth? and that he could've died that night, the way his death was so near.
"i'm just so glad chan hyung was there to save me," changbin sighed heavily, his voice shaking. "i mean, what would've happened if he wasn't there? the murderer must've saw chan hyung coming and took a run for it."
"that's also possible." minho said.
there was nothing to describe how terrified changbin was that night. not only was he nearly attacked by a stalker but the fact that there was another murder, just so close to where they were. his mum was right, this really isn't a safe place to be at.
but what can he do? it's not like he can move universities or rent a small apartment for the time being, it was impossible. he would have to stay here, whether he liked it or not.
"i-i'm gonna go and see chan hyung," changbin then got up from his seat, causing minho to look up from where he sat. "i'll be back..."
"oh okay, do you want me to go with you?" minho asked.
