May 23, 2009;

    It was a rainy and dark night, fog shrouding the surroundings from one's sight to the point of confusion. One wrong turn and suddenly you would get lost amongst the fog, never to return back home again.

    The rain fell fast and hard, pelting against the car's windshield, the wipers moving furiously fast to try to help the driver see forwards.

    The car drove along the slippery roads, alone on the roads, the only sounds of rain hitting the pavement and tires hitting the road. It seemed peaceful. The only thing amidst the night was loud voices echoing in the lone car.

    "Elena, when I agreed to come pick you up from the party I did not want to find you drunk! You're only 16 years old! I expected this from Scarlet, not you!" MIranda Gilbert scolded the younger twin, turning in her seat to look behind her at the brunette.

Scarlet looked up from their phone, pausing their music and frowning as Elena scoffed in response to their mother's comments. "Mom, I'm not drunk! I had one drink, ok?" MIranda rolled her eyes.

"One drink that you shouldn't have had at all!" Grayson chastised from the driver's seat. "Elena, this can only happen once. If this happens again, you'll be grounded until you move out."

Elena's eyes widened at the statement, and Scarlet's eyes flickered between the father and daughter duo, sensing the storm brewing. "Dad! You can't!"

"Oh, I can. Try me young lady!" Grayson stated, turning his head to look at the youngest daughter. "You do not tell me what I can and cannot do as your father."

"Grayson- '' The matriach of the GIlbert family whispered, trying to step in and stop the argument from furthering.

"Miranda, you and I both know that I am right. Elena, I have had up to my last straw with you!" Grayson's voice raised as he drove faster. "You act like a spoiled brat, and I hate to say it but you are. Your mother and I have given you everything that you could ever want! You never get told no!"

The arguing intensified and Scarlet groaned, holding their head in their hands as sharp stabbing pain started. Their vision blurred and their head pounded, pain intensifying even more. The loud voices of Grayson and Elena Gilbert became muffled, even the loud sound of rain pounding against the glass was muffled.

Images began to flash through the older Gilbert twin's head, and an overwhelming feeling of suffocation shook Scarlet's body. Water, there was so much water. It hurts so much, help, help me!

As the voices grew quieter, a sudden impact threw the Gilbert's forward, seatbelts holding them back from being thrown through the windshield. Wood crashed into the glass, breaking it into shards as the car was thrown over the bridge, water engulfing the vehicle.

Screaming started, and Scarlet couldn't tell who it came from. Was it Elena, or their mother or father? Was it them? They didn't know.

Their vision began to blur again as they struggled to breath, water filling their lungs. The last thing they remembered was their mother's limp body floating in the water, their twin struggling to breathe, and their father's hand reaching out for them.

And just before the older twin passed out, Scarlet felt death take them into their hands, and whisk them off to the realm of the dead and dying.
