"At a dinner party one should eat wisely but not too well, and talk well but not too wisely."
Jenna, Elijah, and Caelum walked through the forest. Jenna and Caelum were showing Elijah the old property lines, while he commented about what it looked like more than 1000 years ago, while he lived here with his family.
"The old Fell property actually starts just beyond the fence." Jenna told Elijah and he frowned.
"Ah, the Fells. One of the 'founding families'." Elijah remarked, and Caelum laughed.
"Well, not everyone can be over 1000 years old and know the true history, Elijah." Caelum commented.
"I guess not, my dear."
Jenna laughed as Caelum squeaked at the nickname, caught off guard.
"Is there any documentation before the founding families found this area?" Jenna asked after gaining her composure, and Elijah looked thoughtful.
"About two centuries before, the area was settled. There was a migration of townsfolk from northeast, Salem to be exact."
"Salem? As in the witch trials?" Jenna questioned.
"Yes."
"The founding families are bullshit." Caelum commented, and Jenna laughed again and Elijah hid a smile.
"I bet it was the men who made a deal about being the founders." Jenna remarked. "Men are very territorial."
"That they are." Elijah replied, glancing at Caelum briefly before looking towards the approaching footsteps. Jenna and Caelum looked up as well.
"Elijah, this is my friend, Alaric Saltzman." Jenna stated.
From behind her, Caelum whispered to Elijah, "Boyfriend actually."
"Yeah, I got your messages about walking Elijah here through the old property lines and I thought I'd tag along. You know, being a history buff and all." Alaric said. "Where to next?"
"I'm pretty curious about the freed slave property owners. Some say, you know, the descendants of the slaves are the true keeprs of American history." Elijah said, and Jenna and Caelum exchanged a look of amusement.
"Well, I only brought the surveys. I got that list in the car, I'll go get it." Jenna said, and sent a look to Caelum.
She walked off and Alaric stood there, awkwardly. "You know Jenna and I are on the list of people Elena loves. You should know not to hurt us." Alaric states, and catching Caelum's look adds on quickly. "Oh and Caelum."
Caelum rolls their eyes, and sighs as Elijah speaks up after throwing a look towards the former. "You don't have to be jealous. I don't really pursue younger women."
Caelum snorts and Alaric stands there, confused. "It's a joke, Ric. Lighten up." Caelum adds on, and Elijah nods.
"Oh."

Alaric left earlier, and now it was just Jenna, Elijah, and Caelum left. They decided to head to the grill, as Caelum was hungry.
