Leanna's POV

I munched on a cucumber from the plate that JJ had brought me while he rubbed my feet. I kept eating the ones that were meant for my eyes, so he had brought me a whole plate full. The timer went off and I peeled the sheet mask from my face.

"Are you ready for lunch, babe?" JJ asked me softly. We had spent all morning upstairs. Breakfast in bed, a bubble bath, the facemask, and he massaged various parts of my body, some being more sensual than others.

"We could eat." I smiled as I got up. I took off my robe and put on some sweatpants and a t-shirt. I followed JJ downstairs and into the kitchen. JJ took some BBQ leftovers out of the fridge and started heating them. "How would you feel about the name Kingsley?" I asked him curiously as I took out some utensils and plates.

"It's pretty. Unique. Do you like it?" He licked some cheese from his thumb as he took the macaroni container out of the microwave.

"I love it. I found it in a name of baby books last night and I fell in love." I smiled and looked out the back window. Melody was sitting on the porch of the guest house, reading a book. She was wearing a long sleeve and jeans. It was a little chilly for early May. She was chewing on the tip of her thumb, just like she always did.

"Do you think she's adjusting okay?" JJ asked after following my gaze. He served two plates and put them on the counter.

"I'm not sure. She did not have a lot of friends in Wisconsin so it's not like she had a lot to leave behind. She might be struggling because I am spending more time with you. I think maybe if she made a friend or two here it might be easier on her. She is just so shy though." I looked at JJ and I could tell that the wheels were turning in his head as he started eating.

"After lunch, I have a couple of errands to run. You could spend time with her while I'm gone. I mean, you're always welcome to spend time with her when I'm home. She's your sister." He smiled as he shoved a forkful of macaroni into his mouth.

"While you're out, can you pick up her business cards from the print shop?" I asked him. We ordered them last night. They were a beautiful matte purple color with a gold lace design around the border.

"Yeah, of course." He smiled at me, and he had chipmunk cheeks since his mouth was full. I laughed slightly at him and wiped the cheese off the side of his mouth with my thumb. I had no idea how I got so lucky with my man.

I sighed softly, looking at Melody. We were sitting on the back porch swing together. She was reading her book from earlier, and I read some books about babies. Melody and I were always okay just sitting in silence together.

"Hey, Lea!" I heard JJ coming through the house and Melody held the swing steady with her foot on the ground so that I could get up.

"Yes, baby?" I asked and I nearly cried when I saw the fluffiest puppy in the whole wide world. JJ walked him into the backyard on a navy leash with a green harness.

"I adopted Melody a friend." The grin on his face was wide, proud, and childish. "His name is Milo. He's a three-month-old Newfoundland. He has all of his shots and is up to date with vet visits." JJ was so proud of what he had done. I looked over at Melody to see her reaction and tears were streaming down her cheeks silently.

"Thank you." She whispered, throwing her arms around JJ's waist for just a moment. She didn't want to cross a boundary. She dropped to her knees and Milo came right up to her, putting his front paws on her lap and licking her face.

"I already signed him up for training classes. All you have to do is take him." JJ handed her the schedule sheet and a box. "Those are your business cards as well. Milo can sleep in the guest house with you if you want. I do not mind the shedding and potty training and stuff. I still have a bed for him and some puppy pads, food, and a bowl in the car. I'll bring them to you." JJ could not stop smiling. I could tell that he was genuinely proud of what he did.

"Thank you," Melody answered again, and I took a deep breath. It was nice to see her so happy.

"Do you want to go out to dinner tonight, just the two of us?" JJ asked once the two of us were walking through the house. I followed him to the car to help him with the puppy stuff.

"Sure, that'd be nice." I smiled at him and kissed his cheek. "Thank you for making Melody happy like that. You have no idea how much it means to me."

"Melody is my sister now too. I have her back, just like you do." He smiled at me and we walked out back to where Melody was still playing with Milo.

"JJ and I are going to go out to dinner, Melody. Will you be okay while we are gone?" I asked her and she nodded her head.

"I'll be fine. You two, have fun." She glanced up at me and I nodded my head with a smile. I hoped that the paparazzi would give us as much distance as they did the last time we went out to dinner.

Melody's POV

I watched as Jacob got out of my bed and put his clothes back on. He wasn't on duty tonight so I may or may not have booty called him. He had spent a couple of hours with me so it wasn't like he wasn't here long. This wasn't like me. I was the long-term dating type. I had one boyfriend in middle school, which only lasted 2 months, and then my high school boyfriend I was with for 5 ½ years.

"What are you thinking about gorgeous?" Jacob pulled me out of my thoughts, and I looked at him as he buttoned the ends of his sleeves.

"Just thinking about how I've changed since I was younger." I don't know why I was telling him this. I didn't want this to become something deeper.

"I think we all have." He sighed softly and I couldn't read what he was thinking. He grabbed his blazer from the chair and turned to look at me. "Thanks for calling me tonight. You have no idea how much I needed this tonight." He walked over and kissed my forehead. I felt my heart flutter for a slight second but pushed the feeling away quickly. "I'm on shift tomorrow so I'll see you then." He winked at me and then headed out of the guest house. I got out of bed and took a deep breath. I put on my robe and opened the bathroom door. Milo climbed down from the shelf and ran over to my feet.

"Hi, baby." I picked him up and went into the small living room. I sat down on the couch and turned on the Vampire Diaries. I scratched behind his ears, and he yawned, leaning into my touch. I had wanted a puppy my whole life, but my mom was allergic and then Leanna and I lived in a small apartment when I was in high school. There were some days when we could barely afford to feed ourselves. It wasn't until Leanna started cheering for the Packers that we had a little more money. The cost was that she spent a lot of time away from home during the season. Without that job though, I wouldn't have been able to afford to go to college. I owed Leanna everything.
