The Perfect Love Story

Chapter 4

          I groaned softly when I felt someone kissing up my bare leg that had been exposed under the blanket. I rolled over, rubbing my eyes. I felt like it could have been a dream and that Milo could have just been licking my leg. But Milo was laying right under my pillow where he had been all night long. I looked up and Jacob smiled down at me.

"I got you a croissant and an iced tea." He put the brown paper bag and the cup on the nightstand. "I went running with JJ this morning and I thought I would stop in and say hi before going into the main house to shower. JJ always lets me shower in the house when we go running together." He wiped his face with a small towel around his neck. He was shirtless and the sweat was glistening off his torso. I felt myself swallowing the lump forming in my throat as I looked at him. "I'm on the clock so I can't stay. I would if I wasn't. I will see you around gorgeous." He kissed my forehead and then headed out of the guest house. I sat up slowly as I tried to continue waking myself up and calm myself down from seeing Jacob all sweaty like that. I ripped off a small piece of croissant and offered it to Milo. He smelled it and then took it gently from my fingers.

"What have I gotten myself into, boy?" I asked him and he sat up, licking his lips, waiting for more. I ripped off a piece for myself and then another piece for him. What had I gotten myself into?

Leanna's POV

I sat up in bed, eating some chocolate chip toaster waffles when JJ came back from his run. I had my swollen feet propped up on a couple of pillows at the end of the bed.

"Hey, gorgeous." JJ took a deep breath as he came into the room. I could tell that he was trying to focus on his breathing. He was conditioning himself before training camp started. "I'm going to take a quick shower, but I'll rub your feet when I get out." He kissed my temple and I watched as he went into the bathroom. He was only in the bathroom for about 15 minutes before opening the door. He had a towel wrapped around his neck and his waist.

"How was your run?" I asked, rubbing my stomach. I could not stop thinking about the baby ever since I found out that we were having a girl. I was excited before finding out that we were having a girl, but I was even more excited finding out the gender. I would have had the same reaction if we were having a boy, it's just knowing the gender that opened up new doors.

"It was good. I'm just worried that I started later this year. I've been just a little preoccupied." He said with a smile as he looked in the closet for something to wear. "Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to be preoccupied." He grabbed a t-shirt and some jeans and then went back into the bathroom. He left the door open as he got dressed. He came back out and sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing my ankles. "How was your morning, my love?" He asked as he focused on my feet.

"Good. I haven't been up for that long. Baby Girl is kicking like crazy today. She's also sitting on my bladder." I smiled as he watched him. He always looked at me so lovingly. It was nice to have someone look at me that way. "Hey baby, I've been thinking about the way you got Milo for Melody. It would be kind of cool if we got a puppy too. Especially with my due date coming up soon. The puppy and the baby can grow up together." I smiled slightly at the thought as I rubbed my stomach.

"That sounds like a great idea." JJ smiled wide as he continued to rub my ankles. "We can go first thing tomorrow. I have some stuff that I need to take care of today but like I said, first thing tomorrow." He put my foot down carefully and switched to the other one.

"What do you have to do today?" I asked him, tucking some hair behind my ear. I was still getting used to living with a man. He was still getting used to having a woman in the house too.

"Grocery shopping, uniform fitting, have to pick up the dry cleaning, and then I got to pick up your online order from Buy Buy Baby. As long as you like everything, I can start putting the nursery together soon." He explained to me, and I smiled.

"You don't have people to do all that stuff for you?" I asked him curiously and he shrugged his shoulders.

"I want to show you that I can take care of you on my own." His tone of voice reminded me of a toddler that wanted to put their shoes on all by themselves. He didn't look at me as he spoke. He continued looking at my feet.

"I know that you can, baby. But if you want to do all of that stuff on your own then you totally can. I'm not going to stop you." I smiled softly as I watched him.

"The uniform fitting is probably going to take a while so I should probably get going soon. Do you want me to bring you lunch later?" He asked as he stood up. I shook my head.

"I think I'll go out to lunch with Melody. We haven't hung out a whole lot this week. Thank you though." I smiled at him, and he stretched out a little.

"Okay, beautiful, I'll see you later. Call me if you need anything." He kissed my lips softly and I felt my heart skip a beat, just like I always did whenever he kissed me. "I love you."

"I love you too." I watched him go, rubbing the top of my stomach softly. I could feel Baby Girl kicking where my hand was. I smiled and tucked some hair behind my ear. "Hi, Baby Girl. Can you feel mommy's hand?" I asked her and it was like she started kicking harder at the sound of my voice. I got up and got ready. In the time it took me to get ready, I peed twice. The second time I almost didn't make it. I went downstairs, taking two breaks on the way. I was going to have to start sleeping downstairs soon. It was hard to get up and down those stairs every day. I went out back and looked at Melody who was sitting on her porch swing, reading a book. Milo was lying next to her with his head on her lap. "Hey, Melody," I said as softly as I could. I didn't want to scare her if she didn't see me coming.

"Hey, mama. How are you feeling today?" She asked, closing her book. Milo's head perked up when I approached.

"The best I can. Baby Girl is resting on my bladder today, so I have to run to the bathroom every 5 minutes. I also think that I'm going to have to move into the downstairs bedroom until she gets here. I'm struggling with the stairs." I was glad that I had my sister here to talk about these things with.

"I'm sure that JJ had to know that it was coming. I would just let him know." She smiled slightly at me.

"I know it's still a little early right now, but I wanted to know if you wanted to have lunch with me today?" I asked her and she nodded her head.

"Yeah, that sounds great. We haven't hung out all week." Milo yawned and rolled over onto his back. She rubbed his stomach softly with her fingernails.

"I'll come back around noon so that you can have some time to get ready." I smiled at her and then headed back to the main house. I was happy to get to spend some time with my sister today.
