Leanna's POV

I groaned a little when someone opened the blinds the next morning. I rubbed my face and rolled over. There was a tray of dry toast, black coffee, Advil, and a glass of water on the nightstand.

"It's two in the afternoon. Rise and shine girl." Melody got onto the bed next to me and I grabbed the coffee as I sat against the wall next to her. She had Kingsley in her arms and baby girl was wide awake, looking around.

"I had a dream last night that when I got home, JJ went to put Kingsley in her crib and she started screaming like crazy." I popped a couple of Advil in my mouth and chased them with the hot coffee.

"That wasn't a dream. It really happened. JJ had to sleep with Kingsley in his arms all night. He told me this morning before he left for practice." She looked down at Kingsley who was trying to put Melody's hair in her mouth. Melody took it out of her hand and Kingsley fussed a little bit before calming down.

"Can you watch her while I take a shower?" I asked my sister and she nodded her head. I got up and grabbed my pump. I hated that I'd have to pump and dump for the next 12ish hours now that I had slept so much, but I had a lot of fun last night.

"I'm gonna take her with me across the yard. Text me if you need anything." Melody told me before leaving me to do what I needed to do. I was so grateful that she was here, I wasn't sure what I'd do without her.

Melody's POV

I put Kingsley down in her playpen and started making myself a BLT for lunch. Kingsley yawned as she started to soothe herself for her afternoon nap. She rubbed one of her eyes as I sat down to eat my lunch. I got a text from Matthew, asking if he could come over. We hadn't seen each other since Thursday night for our date. It went well. We got dinner and saw a movie. Matthew just wanted to hang out and maybe watch The Big Bang Theory together. That was our show. I texted him back that he could come over as long as he brought frozen yogurt. I smiled a little when he agreed and texted Leanna to let her know that he was coming over. I had been so worried that Leanna was going to give me a hard time about the two of us starting over, but she had been so supportive so far.

"Hey, Melody?" Leanna knocked on the door softly and poked her head in as I was cleaning up my lunch dishes. "I need to go grocery shopping. Since you and Matthew are going to just hang out here, could Kingsley stay with you so that I don't disturb her naptime?"

"Yeah, that would be fine," I told her as I turned on the dishwasher. I tucked some hair behind my ear and Leanna gave Kingsley a forehead kiss and then headed out. Not long after she had left, she was replaced in my doorway by Matthew.

"Hey, gorgeous girl." He came and kissed my cheek. He put the frozen yogurt and bouquet on the counter. "Chocolate and cheesecake frozen yogurt with almonds and a small cup of mini M&M's on the side." He said as he took the containers out of the bag.

"Thank you so much. Are you going to bring me flowers every time you see me?" I asked with a small, teasing smile.

"I just have some not-so-great news." He came and sat next to me on the couch. "I have to go out of town for a little while. My mom needs me and I have some unfinished business back home. I promise I'll be back as soon as I can, okay?" He asked, rubbing my back. I got an uneasy feeling in my stomach but still smiled and nodded my head. I knew there was nothing I could do to stop him.

Leanna's POV

As soon as the doctor cleared me to work out, I was ready to start. I knew JJ was ready to start messing around again now that I had gotten the okay for that too, and I wanted to look as good for him as possible. He and TJ were out of town for a football game and Kingsley had a sleepover last night with her aunt Melody so they were most likely still asleep. I got dressed in one of the new outfits I had just bought and went downstairs. I let Toro outside to go play with Milo and stretched in the living room. I started jogging down the route that JJ had recommended to me. I was feeling good just jogging so I decided to take it a little faster. If I had continued just jogging, I most likely would have seen the tree root that was coming out of a crack in the sidewalk.

"Ow, ow, ow." I tried to put weight on my ankle but it wasn't working. It hurt too much. I pulled my phone out of the pocket of my shorts. I dialed Melody's number and prayed that she would pick up.

"Hello?" The grogginess in her voice told me that she had just woken up. I could hear Kingsley quietly babbling in the background, she was probably on the bed with Melody.

"Hey, Melody. I went for a run and I hurt my ankle. I can't walk on it. Can you come to get me? I'm near the corner of 1st and Mable. I'm leaning against a tree. I can't put any weight on my ankle." I could hear Melody rushing around on the other end of the phone.

"We'll be right there. Do you want me to stay on the phone with you?" She asked and I could hear some car keys moving along in the background.

"I'll be okay. Just come quickly, please." I tried to focus on grounding my breathing while leaning against the tree trunk. Melody came around the corner a few minutes later. I could tell that she was trying to rush while also keeping Kingsley safe. She pulled up to the curb and hopped out of the car.

"Here, let me help you." Melody helped me hobble to the passenger seat of the car. "Do you think you need to go to the hospital or just go home and ice it?" She asked before pulling away from the curb.

"I think I need to go to the hospital if that's okay with you." I looked over at her. She was wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top. She probably rushed out of the house to come to get me and didn't even think about bringing a sweater.

"Yeah, of course. Whatever you need." Melody pulled a towel out of her cup holder and offered it to me. "I brought you some ice just in case you wanted to go to the hospital." Melody was always thinking ahead. She was the younger sister but she had good mama bear instincts already.

"Thank you." I held the ice to my ankle which was now starting to swell just a little. I could only hope that it wasn't broken.

There was good news and bad news at the hospital. The good news was that my ankle wasn't broken, it was just a minor sprain. The bad news was that I had to wear a clunky walking boot for the next two weeks so that it wouldn't get worse. JJ of course freaked out when he came home a couple of days later.

"I'm fine," I told him for what felt like the millionth time as he fluffed the pillows behind me on the couch. He had been going crazy cleaning the house, taking care of Kingsley's every need, and baking my favorite cookies (he got Melody to bake them, and I saw him sneaking her out of the kitchen, but the gesture was still nice.)

"Can I get you some more iced tea?" He asked and a small smile creeping on my lips. I had only drunk about ¼ of the glass. I was trying to watch Chicago Fire but JJ kept stepping in front of the TV so that he could tend to me.

"Justin." I only used his full name if I was trying to be serious or get his attention. "Sit with me. You have training this afternoon. Relax, I'm fine." I patted the spot on the couch next to me. "Come on. Kingsley's with Melody, I have everything I need. Just sit with me for a little while." I batted my eyelashes at him and he finally sat down next to me. He put his arm around my shoulders tenderly and I nuzzled my head into his neck. "This is nice," I said with a content sigh as I felt JJ's body finally relaxing.
