Chapter 14

Leanna's POV

I held JJ's hand as we walked into a restaurant together. I was so excited to have our first date night since Kingsley was born. Two of his new bodyguards followed behind us.

"Reservation for Watt." JJ let the host know. She grabbed two menus and led us to a table in an empty section. There were purple balloons on each chair and some presents and a beautiful bouquet of pink roses on the table. JJ pulled out my chair for me and pushed it in once I sat down.

"Can I get the two of you a wine menu?" The host asked and JJ nodded his head. She left us alone for a couple of minutes and then a waiter came back with the wine menu.

"I was thinking that we could do a nice rosé," JJ said to me as he looked over the wine menu. He had the restaurant remove the prices from our menus just like he did for every big dinner we went to. He never wanted me to think too much about it.

"That sounds great." I smiled at him and chewed on my lip as I looked at the menu. Everything sounded good.

"The steak here is fantastic. TJ, Derek, and I used to bring my parents all the time before you moved here with me. I also like the lobster here. If you want, we can each get one and then share." He offered and I smiled. He always knew me so well.

"Great idea." I held his hand over the table, and he kissed the back of it softly. The waiter came back over, and JJ got our menus.

"Can we get a bottle of your best rosé to start with a plate of your asiago cheese fries. For our entrees, I would like a steak, well done, and your parmesan asparagus and mashed potatoes as a side. My wife would like a lobster with butter sauce, mashed potatoes as well, and a side salad." He handed the waiter back the menus and he smiled.

"We'll have that out for you in an orderly time, Mr. Watt." He disappeared and I looked at JJ. He gently pushed some hair from my face with his fingertips.

"Are you ready for your first present of the night?" He asked and I nodded my head, feeling excited butterflies in my stomach. He handed me one of the smaller presents off the table, it was wrapped so elegantly. I didn't want to just rip off the paper. I unfolded each edge carefully and pulled out the jewelry box. I gave him a small smile and flipped the lid open. I tried not to cry when I saw the locket inside. I opened it up and it had our first picture of Kingsley in it.

"It's beautiful, JJ. Thank you." He stood up so that he could put the necklace around my neck gently. He sat back down right as the waiter was bringing our bottle of wine and two glasses.

"Your asiago cheese fries should be out in a moment. Please let me know if you need anything else." He smiled as he walked away, and JJ poured half a glass into each of our cups.

"To my beautiful wife's 28th birthday. You're looking better and better every damn day." JJ held his glass up. I smiled as I clinked my glass with his and took a drink. I let out a breath as I put my glass down on the table. It was nice to be able to have a glass of wine again.

"Here are your cheese fries. I'll have your entrees out as soon as they're ready." The waiter put down the big plate of fries and gave us a small plate each.

"Thank you so much." I waited until he had left us alone and used my fork and knife to put some of the fries on my plate. "How is practice going so far?" I asked JJ. He was picking fries off the big plate with his fingers.

"Good. I'm enjoying having TJ on the team with me. He's actually been talking about Melody a lot." He sighed softly. "I think he's falling in love with her." He took a drink from his glass. "It killed him the night Matthew came back."
