MASON ROLLED DOWN HIS WINDOW as chanaïs exited her apartment complex, a hand over her eyes to shield them from the sun.
"morning, sunshine" he smiled at her, laughing at the scowl she sent his way.
"just drive."
"will do."
the rest of the car ride was full of excruciatingly painful silence, the radio being the only other sound between the two of them. until mason, being himself, tried to make small talk with chanaïs.
"what do you do at these photo shoots?"
"i stand in front of a camera and people take photos of me" was the blunt answer.
"did anyone ever tell you that you're a really nice person?" he shook his head.
the corners of chanaïs' lips tilted up at that, ever so slightly. "every now and then."
arriving at the studio, mason got out of the car before chanaïs could, opening her door for her and even offering a hand out to her, which she cautiously took.
"you don't have to stay, you know" she told him as they walked towards the door. their arms had somehow linked together, something mason had caught onto that chanaïs loved to do with people around her.
"i know. i want to though." and she couldn't deny that those few words made her a bit giddy on the inside.
