"OKAY, I'M BORED" Declan decided after yet another round of Just Dance, Marcus being crowned the winner over Bukayo. "Can we play truth, dare or shot?" he asked, wrapping his arm around Lauren's shoulder.

Mason groaned as soon as he heard the name of the game leave his friend's mouth ─── it was a silly version of truth or dare mixed with paranoia that they had made up in their last year of secondary school, and it had somehow stuck. The aim of the game was simple: everyone had to think of a question or dare for someone else in the circle, and they either had to fulfil it or take a shot.

"I'm down" Jadon agreed, taking a packet of skittles and sitting cross legged in front of Chanaïs, who responded by patting his head.

The group gathered round in a circle, Bryson Tiller playing softly in the background as Jesse went first.

"Marcus, is it true that you only like white girls?"

"I beg, let this rest, Jesse."

"Answer it."

"No." A chorus of hm's was let out, only because the group were quite fond of the questions surrounding Marcus' dating preferences and found it humorous to trouble him about it. "Next, please."

"Lauren, be so honest by the way. Did you force Declan to grow out his hair?" Tammy asked, leaning forward with his hands together on his knees.

Lauren let out a giggle before turning to her boyfriend, his puzzled face making the question even funnier. "He knows this already, but yeah. I mean hey, it was for your own good babe."

The questions kept going back and forth, Jadon ended up drinking four shots back to back because he refused to answer certain questions, Tammy and Declan having to perform a very interesting version of Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend' at the request of Marcus, and Bukayo was having the time of his life gathering gossip to use against them whenever he wanted something.

"Okay, Mason." Bukayo began, and by the look on his face, Mason didn't know whether to be worried or start praying for forgiveness. "Would you describe yourself as an honest person in a relationship?"

At this point, Chanaïs looked up from her phone where she had just been sending her mother some 0.5 photos of Jadon, and tuned into the question. Mason was sat opposite her, so it didn't help that he could feel her gaze on him. And it certainly didn't help her when he answered with an unbothered "Depends."

"What do you mean, 'depends' ─── you either are or you aren't," Jesse tried simplifying it for him.

Mason was become visibly uncomfortable , his leg kept bopping up and down and his fingers kept tapping the back of the sofa where his arm rested. "Look, I answered the question, okay? Can we move on now?"

"No, I'm not done." interjected Bukayo.

"Oh, God" Declan and Marcus said at the same time.

"When was the last time you entertained someone else whilst in any form of a relationship?"

If it wasn't awkward before, it definitely was now. Jesse slapped a hand over his mouth, Tammy and Leah both put their drinks down, but everyone, everyone glanced at Chanaïs. And when she didn't look in the slightest bit emotive, that's when the worry kicked in.

As she glared at Mason, waiting for him to answer, Jadon tapped her thigh, mouthing a quick "you good?" to her, to which she replied with a simple hum, still glaring at Mason.

"Well, answer it then." Bukayo pushed, enjoying the situation far too much.

"Bukayo, give it a rest," Mason dragged a hand over his face.

"Look, I'm just saying, if you have the chest to do that, maybe you should just come clean rather than string someone along who, by the way, is way out of your league. Nai, you know I love you, but you have such a bad type," Bukayo rushed his words out.

"He's right, your type is so odd," Marcus and Declan agreed.

Chanaïs simply laughed one of those heartless laughs as her tongue poked the inside of her cheeks, picking up her drink and settling her gaze off of Mason. "Thanks for that, really. You've opened my eyes."

"Wait, Nai I have a question for you, and it's not to instigate I swear, I'm just very curious" Jadon turned around to face his best friend.

"Shoot."

"If what happened between you and Reiss didn't happen, would you give him another chance?"

And when Chanaïs answered "Yes" with zero hesitation, the squeals from Marcus and Jesse only added to Mason's irritation and Chanaïs looked right at him, winking as she took another sip.
