Thoma sat on the edge of the bed, confusion filled his head.
Why would the young maid hurt him?
Jealousy couldn't be the reason...
Maybe she didn't hurt him after all.
He held his hand against his head, feeling the thin fabric of a bandage.
Barbara said he would recover soon, he was glad about that.

Her body felt week, she was convinced she was lying in a field far off from Mondstadt city.
One part of her thoughts was right at least, she was indeed far away from Mondstadt.
The sound of a door opening.
Footsteps.
A door closing loudly.
Unknown voices whispering.
"Do you think she's up?", voice one whispered
"doesn't seem like it", the second replied in the same volume as the other
"Hey you are you awake?", the first voice called.
Noelle giggled.
"I must be really tired after all, I thought the darkness and noises were it. Seems like I was wrong..."
"Are you alright girl?", the second voice asked in a rather concerned tone.
"I suppose not...", she giggled
"I mean, I'm clearly responding to my imagination..."
The second of the men walked towards the defenseless girl in front of him, standing just a few millimeter away. He pulled off the fabric bag of Noelles head.
"does this seem like your imagination to you?"
Noelle looked at the man in front of her.
A Fatui.
She looked at him in disbelieve.
"Am I dead?", she asked quietly.
"What? No you are alive, injured but alive", the Fatui said.
"Am I imagining?"
"We already proven that you're not", the other Fatui yelled.
"Then why am I here?", Noelle asked.
"We found you walking around and we had the command to end everyone we see in this area", the one in front said.
"You should be lucky we didn't kill you", the one in the back said while laughing.
"I suppose I was", Noelle joined the Fatuis laughing.
The Fatui in front of her turned around to his comrade.
"What should we do with her now? Boss is going to kill us if he finds out we've spared this one"
The one in the back leaned against the wall.
"We could just fulfill our order and kill her or we could-", he leaned back up "I'll be right back you keep an eye on her"
"I will", he turned back around to Noelle. "you better hope he'll let you be spared"
The other left running, the door smashing behind him.
"Even if he doesn't, I'm happy with the outcome... even if it's my death", Noelle whispered "Maybe in death I'll earn the title of knight.."
The Fatui looked shocked under his mask. He didn't respond, he just thought.
Minutes of silence finally broke when the door smashed open and the Fatui from earlier entered. Noelle thought he returned alone but after seeing that he held up the door she knew someone would join this conversation soon.

"How are you?"
"Way better since this Barbara was here", Thoma smiled.
"I'm glad you are, I would have never heard the end of it from Ayato if you died during this trip", Ayaka laughed.
"Indeed, the lord would have not been so happy with my sudden passing", Thoma joined the laughing.
A knock on the door.
"Enter please", Thoma said.
"Traveller!", Ayaka happily said "any news on the runaway maid"
"nope still no trace, it's like she disappeared into thin air", the Traveller said concerned "all of Mondstadt is searching".
The Traveller looked at Thoma "I'm so sorry that your first trip after the closing ended up like this"
Thoma shook his head "No need to apologize, Traveller. It's not that bad."
