Jean walked up and down in her office. Her mind was running. All because it appears that the maid who they suspected to injure a guest turns out to be innocent.
She thought about how she even came to the conclusion as Noelle was weak in comparison to Thoma or atleast so she heard. But nothing explaines the injuries und the Maid unless...
Jean shock her head in denial. It couldn't be, it just couldn't. She simply couldn't have protected Mondstadt during the night.
She left the building and went for a walk in the dark night of the City. The cold breeze brushed her hair. Her mind was racing. Maybe she was wrong about the maid.
She looked up to the sky.
"No matter if you did protect Mondstadt during the night... you died. You are dead. You Probaly even ended your pointless life...", a Single tear ran down Jeans cheek "do you even deserve that tear?", Jean spat while wiping the salty liquid of her face. Jean sighed and continued her walk, stareing at the buildings around her. Her feet brought her to the tavern and again she sighed before entering.

Pain was normal down here. She wanted to hate it and yet it started to feel good whenever Dottore "worked" on her.
"Are you even conscious?", Dottore whispered. Noelle nodded softly.
"Don't move too much I don't want to cause unnecessary complications.", he said while he continued to "work".
"How's the pain?", Dottore asked.
"It's ... getting worse but I can hand-"
"I'll get you more medication", Dottore said while filling a syring with painkillers.
"Breath dear...everything will be fine...", Dottore softly brushed through Noelles hair "nothing can happen to you while I'm here..."
Noelle nodded.
"Ready?", Noelle closed her eyes. A sign which Dottore saw as a yes. He placed the needle on her skin and allowed the woman to take a final breath before injecting the liquid in her.
"It's a new one. The others said that they felt numb after a Minute."
"Indeed I barely feel the needle..."
"May I continue?", Dottore asked which was only met with a nod.
He himself gave a nod and than proceeded to work.
"The infection has gotten better but I'm more concerned about our last project. You still refuse to eat more than the portion size I made you right after the project.", Dottore said.
"Does it hurt to eat?"
"A lot"
"I'll see what I can do but let me finish the infection on your leg first"
Noelle nodded and closed her eyes. She didn't feel anything not even the harbinger hooking her up to machinery to keep her alive.
"You should have told me that you bleed internally. I can't let you die on me... no-one would have forgiven me if I were to let you die..."
He brushed her face, hoping she'd feel it. "I'll tell the others that you'd be away for some time.... I can't let you go out like this..."
Noelle nodded. "I.. only got to you due to my infection.... Mo- the Tsaritsa has forbidden me to let you work on me... but this is an emergency..."
Dottore looked at the woman.
"Rest my dear.... when you're better I'll take you out for a trip..."

It was a rare sight to see the acting grandmaster in the tavern at this hour, seeing them here at all was rare. The fact that she was drinking something with alcohol was something most vistitors never expected to see.

The hours past quickly and the bar emptied with every passing second. Only the bartender and grandmaster remained at the end.

The bartender sighed.

"Jean. You seem down what is it", Diluc started.

"That stupid maid.."

"What?", Diluc looked at her confused "what Maid? Did one of them forget the clothes outside?"

"No...", Jean whispered "that stupid Maid..."

Diluc just stared at the knight.

"That stupid Maid that we tried to find..."

Diluc realized who she meant. "Noelle."

"DON'T SAY HER DAMN NAME!", Jean screamed "I don't want to hear her name..."

"Why do you think about her?"

"It appears that she protected Mondstadt during the night while we slept.."

"Isn't that something she deserves credit for?"

"No.... she was useless....", Jeans blood was boiling. "No matter if she fought that stupid girl is dead.... and if you say her name she will haunt you..."

"I think you need to sleep. If she's dead she would have found her peace"

Diluc patted the womans back.

"You should let her rest in peace."

Jean starred at the wooden counter, slowly it would be covered in the salty liquid she refused to let out.
