Chapter 16 - Bedmates

It was done...
He did what he could...
She layed still under the anaesthetic infront of him.
He already cleaned up the mess he made.
His hand went through the womans hair.
He didn't understand what he felt when she was around or why it hurt when he realized that she would die soon.
Was that love?
His gaze rested on the former maid.

Warmth.

Pretty unusual to wake up after a procedure and feeling warm.

Her eyes slowly opened, afraid the operating light would flash her but nothing.

It was dark.

She looked around, tracing the contours of the furniture in the room.

This definitely wasn't the lab.

"You've finally woken up", a sleepy voice whispered next to her.

"Dottore where-"

"I brought you up here after the procedure". Dottore stretched himself "It was a great success".

"I- I see...", Noelle looked at the doctor who barely was awake himself. "You should sleep Dottore"

"I had to wait for you to wake up for me to do that", Dottore yawned "but it's too late to walk to my rooms. I have to take samples of you in a few hours"

Dottore felt the restlessness finally take over him. He barely was able to his patient.

Noelle shoved herself to the opposite side of the bed and lifting the blanket.

"There's enough room for the both of us, you need rest too"

Dottore stared at the woman. "I'm supposed to be the insane one dear.", he giggled.

"That doesn't mean I can't be insane for once, Doctor"

Dottore shook his head sitting down on the bed and stipping off his shoes.

"happy?", Dottore asked jokingly.

"Sleep not sit down without shoes Dottore", Noelle laughed.

"You almost died twice today and you already laugh just a few hours after your near death experience"

"Twice? I only remember you carrying me to the lab-"

Dottore looked away from the woman. "I think you can guess where you almost died"

"Was I in such bad condition?"

The doctor just sat there.

"Are you even listening Dottore?"

"You can answer that question yourself, dear"

Dottore looked over his shoulder "keep sleeping, you need every droplet of energy to keep going"

"what about you?", Noelle shuffled closer towards the man placing her hand on his.
The doctor sighed "will you recover faster if I take a na-"

"Yes."

"you didn't even let me finish, Noe-"

"I know."

"fine if that helps you", Dottore pulled his hand from under Noelles before grabbing it holding it  tightly.

"can you take yo-"

"Mask stays on."

"Hey it's my task to interrupt not yours Dottore"

Dottore laughed.

Noelle face turned red, turning away and hiding her face into the soft pillow below her.

"We spend too much time with eachother", the Doctor giggled "you start acting like me"

"That's not true", Noelle jumped up "I act like I always did"

"I remember you being more quiet and afraid to speak your mind"

Noelle bit her lower lip "You're mean..." she whispered.

The man shook his head "Sleeping time Kid"

"I'M NOT A CHILD",  Noelle yelled now with a completely red face.

"You act like one", Dottore smirked.

"I'll tell that the Tsaritsa"

"What are you going to tell her"

"That you pick on me because you don't like me"

Dottore shook his head "She'll tell you something else"

"How would you know?", Noelle stared confused at the doctor.

"Ask her yourself", Dottore said as he stripped of his shoes and throwing himself sideways on the bed.  He stayed like his for a few minutes until he pulled the blanket and placed it on himself.

"Goodnight", he whispered.

"Fine I'll talk to her", Noelle said.

"Do that tomorrow Noelle", the doctor yawned "or later"
