It was another day at the bookshop, when a recent costumer walked in named Raymond Chestnut.
"Hey Ray, need another book recommendation?"
"Actually no, there's this book that I was planning to get for my wife, and I'm curious if you have the book I want to give her."
"Ooh, something for the Mrs. Chesnut! Yeah, I'll see if I have the book , what's it called?"
" It's called, From the Earth to the Moon. Since I always see her looking at."
My grip on the counter tightens a bit as I attempt to summon the nicest smile I could muster,"yeah sure, I'll see if I have a copy,"I looked thought the book tapes to see if there was the book Ray was asking for,"your in luck, you got the last copy!"
I went to grab the copy and handed it to Ray,"here, take it. On the house, as a congratulations gift on the news article."
"Are you sure?"
"One hundred percent, your organization will make a huge difference in the world, I just know it."
I went over the counter and gave him a hug,"thank you, if there's anything I can do to make it up for you."
"Honestly, babysit Benji for a night or something, nothing big."
"How is he anyway?"
"Teething, and he recently learned how to crawl so, just doing my best to baby proof the house."
"Alright, I should let you do your job, I need to head back home anyway."
"Okay, could back soon, maybe we'll have some tea. Also let me know if or when you need some more bail."
"For sure, say hi to Grace for me."
"Will do."
The rest of my shift went on and until it was dark thankfully James was at my house fulfilling his uncle duties. As I walked toward the bus stop the police car was at the stop sign and inside there was some hippie jesus looking man with sunglasses on his face. As I looked closer I noticed who it looked like.
"Klaus," I whispered, and the second the light turned green, the man looked over and his eyes widened; a millisecond later the police car took off leaving me in my thoughts.
On the bus ride home, I tried to comprehend what had just occurred in front of my eyes. My twin brother in the back of a police car, not surprised though. I would have thought he would have ended up in prison, or a mental institution.
"I'm home,"I said, as I took off my coat and placed it on the coat hanger.
"In the kitchen!"Jason hollered, only for me to walk into him and Grace playing poker with cookies while Benji sat in his highchair gnawing on an ice ring.
"Oooh who's winning?"
"I am mom, well I will in a second,"said Grace with a cute smile then turning to Jason with a sharp poker face.
"I'll match you,"she said pushing her cookies in the middle. (btw I don't know jackshit about poker so sorry to the poker players if this makes no sense)
The cards were flipped and she had a straight flush and Jason had a full house.
"FUCKING HELL, Naomi your child has superpowers, I swear she can read my fucking mind."
"You think that Uncle J but you just suck at poker. The student over came the master."
I let out a snort which set Benji into a fit of giggles,"She's got you there J."
Jason let out a dramatic gasp while also pulling up a chair for me,"how was work?"
"It was alright, Ray got a present for his wife. But something very curious I think I saw my twin brother."
"Uncle Klaus,"asked Grace with a cheerful voice.
"Didn't you say you got separated from your family,"asked Jason.
"Yeah, but I don't know man,"I sighed, taking Benji out of his highchair and onto my lap,"the person was in a police car and trust me, if you met him you would agree that he seems like someone who would be in the back of a police car."
"I don't know Naomi,"sighed Jason before rubbing the back of his neck,"well I got an early shift at work to tomorrow, I should probably try and rest."
We made our way to the door, and I gave him a proper hug and kiss on the cheek,"thank you for watching the kids for me J."
"It was no problem, I love them kids,"said Jason with a small smirk on his face, then he gave Grace a pat on the head,"later Gracie, keep up with the poker face."
"You know it J,"mused Grace who hugged his waist.
After he left, the three of us started getting ready for bed. As I heated Benji's bottle, Grace came down in her pjs,"momma, do you really think the man you saw in the back of the police car Uncle Klaus?"
"I don't know, baby. Maybe it's just me wishing in the back of my head that I run into one of your aunts or uncles, mainly your Uncle Five."
"I miss Uncle Five, he was a nice grumpy man."
Letting out a soft chuckle I pressed a kiss to the top of her head,"alright missy, go back to bed, just because I've gone mad, that isn't going to get me to forget that it's a school night."
"So what if you're mad momma, the truth is, the best people are."
After everyone was on bed and hopefully asleep, I could only lay in my bed and think about Klaus and how it could have been him, but little did I know that I was right.
