Accidental Success

Tracy took Milty and me to her apartment. It was pretty small, but it was better than that rundown basement.

"This is it. I mean... it's not much, but it's... you know... not much" Tracy sighed.

"I think it's awesome" I said with a smile.

Milty loved it too.

The next morning, Tracy took us back to the studio.

I hid when her father approached her with a grim expression.

"Welcome to hell. Now recreate that dog food. Take as much time as you need. All week if you must" he said.

Once in a while, Tracy would approach me and ask what to do next.

I knew this wouldn't work, but it was all we could think of.

Soon, Mr Dozier approached Tracy and said "Tracy, you're needed in the script department".

"Oh... of course. I'll be right with you" Tracy sighed.

As soon as Dozier left, she ran straight to me.

"What's wrong?" I said.

"This will never do. I need to finish that dog food, but my work is in the studio" said Tracy.

"Yeah... we gotta figure out something else. Something that doesn't involve me being seen or you running to me for advice and making your father suspect something" I said.

"Oh, yes. I'm terribly sorry, dear. I'm afraid it may take longer for Milty to see Ward" said Tracy.

"I'll wait as long as you want me to. I just need to get this dog an owner that isn't me" I said.

"Why can't it be you?" said Tracy.

"Because I'm a time traveller. And if he lives in 1966, he won't exist now. Awful things happen to people who meddle with time" I said.

"I see. But we need to work something out so that I do what you want in a way that doesn't look like I'm being helped" said Tracy.

"But what?" I said.

"I don't know" said Tracy.

Posner almost found me, but Tracy turned off the lights and I hid.

"That teenager from last night! I saw her!" Posner shouted.

"Who?" said Tracy.

"That intruder! The teenage girl! Right next to you! And what are you doing in here?" Posner growled.

"I'm just... familiarizing myself. With, you know, the allergy preventions and such" Tracy lied.

"Get out! One can get too familiar with allergy prevention you know!" Posner roared.

Tracy approached me in the corner of the studio.

"Oh, that was close. Are you alright, child?" said Tracy to me.

"Yeah. I'm fine. I managed to hide in this old shack" I said.

I was hiding in a hidden room in the studio.

It was kinda big for a rundown vault.

"My dear, no one ever comes in here" said Tracy.

"Really? Then I guess anyone could do a secret job here. Even work for Burt" I said.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" said Tracy.

One look and I knew we had the same crazy idea.
