Milty saw the whole thing and sprinted off to see if he could find help.
In the meantime, I sat in the cage reading more of Burt's book.
I wanted to know what he really thought of Posner.
And I found this little section.
I had heard and read terrible things about my future father-in-law---- so terrible, in fact, that initially it was inconceivable to me that anyone could be that bad. I began defending him to other people who found out I was in love with his daughter.
"Gee. He really defended that doddering creature?" I thought.
I read another section to see if Burt really knew what Posner was.
Victor momentarily backed down with Tracy, but the next day he was back on the telephone starting in on me. He got right to the point. "You agree to end your relationship with Tracy and send her back and I'll send you the $10 million I was thinking of investing in your company... and you can keep all the stock". "No!" I shot back. He hung up.
"Gawrsh, Burt..." I said.
One of the previous paragraphs actually gave me the description I wanted.
I found myself in a strange position. The image I portrayed on Batman was surprisingly close to the way I lived my life----- with honesty and integrity------ except for the sexual debauchery taught to me by my costar. Throughout my years during and after the series I maintained a clean image and always tried to deal fairly with everyone. Now by association with the love of my life, Tracy, I was connected to probably the most hated businessperson in America, a man whose reputation was the antithesis of mine and the character I portrayed. I imagined that the forces of evil were about to clash in a battle of the titans and that I was a pawn in that battle.
Nothing could have been closer to what I felt there.
My plan started as giving Milty to Burt, but now I was fighting for him.
The plan really had gone out of hand, so I gave up after being left in a cage.
Adam's ghost appeared next to me.
"So. We've given up" he said.
"What do you mean?" I said.
"We're in a cage inside a car trunk. Awaiting a future in Posner's business" said Adam.
"No. I'm the one in a cage. I've given up. You are free" I said.
"I'm only as free as you intend me to be. As you are" said Adam.
"Oh, please! I just wanna go home. This ridiculous plan got Tracy in trouble, it's getting me into trouble, and pretty soon, it's gonna get Burt in trouble! I'm giving up, Adam! This is pointless!" I shouted.
"You vowed that you'd never go home until Milty had an owner. And you were never known for giving up, Sam. And you never will" said Adam as he disappeared.
Just then, I heard a crashing sound.
"No, Milty. My other left" I heard Murray say.
"Murray? Murray! Muzz, I'm in here! I'm inside the trunk!" I shouted.
The trunk crashed open and Milty jumped in.
"Milty!" I sobbed happily.
"Hey, lovely" said Murray opening the trunk more.
"Murray!" I cried.
Murray opened the door of my cage and let me out.
"I love you, Muzz!" I squealed.
I kissed Murray then said "Come on, Milty".
"Where are you going?" said Murray.
"Back to the studio! Tracy's in trouble!" I said.
"What kind of trouble?" said Murray.
"Her father's after Burt!" I shouted over my shoulder.
Murray followed me back. To help, of course.
