S.P.P.E.A.R. agents began to flood the area. They dragged Elfen's unconscious body out of the hospital room and into a large armoured vehicle, surrounded by drones, armed guards and armoured vehicles. Elfen was secured, and Polinski took great care ensuring that he wasn't going anywhere. As the armoured vehicle containing the beast was secured, it set off in a convoy formation back to another S.P.P.E.A.R. facility.
Back inside the hospital, Eddie hung onto his brother. His mother and father sobbed in front of them as their little boy died in his arms. Chris and Henry pulled Tyler and Connor out from under the rubble, and saw felt devastation in the room. Eddie wept, and cried over his brother. His lifeless body laid still over his lap, as his arm is sung to the side. The blood still covering Eddie's suit, but hardly being seen due to the shade of colour. Polinski walked in, stepping over all of the debris and looked at the sight before him.
"Eddie, I-" Chris silenced Polinski.
"Let him be."
Polinski stood in the door and just watched as Eddie sobbed over his brother. His parents rushed over to mourn with him. The room filled with sadness and tears. Eddie looked up to Polinski with anger and hatred.
"You better take care of that son-of-a-bitch before I do."
"He's been contained in a secure unit. I'll take care of it from here."
"You better. I'll kill him if I see him." Polinski took that statement as his cue to exit. He made sure to leave agents at the hospital to secure the area.
Chris walked over to Eddie, and knelt down in front of him. Eddie could not control his emotions, and wouldn't let go of Sam's body. He held on tight and sobbed. He looked up to Chris.
"I can't let him go, Chris. He needs me." Chris put his hand out for Eddie to take.
"Eddie, you need to let go of him. He's gone, buddy, there's nothing we can do for him. We need to let the paramedics take him so he can rest."
"I-I failed him," he said between sobs. "I'm his older brother and I failed him. I was meant to protect him, and I-I failed."
"You didn't fail, Eddie. You did everything you could. We all did." Eddie continued to sob over his brother. Connor and Tyler, after being freed by Henry, started to come to and saw the devastation before them. Their hearts sank as they pieced together what happened.
Hours later, Polinski finally arrived at the S.P.P.E.A.R. facility containing Elfen. He was in chains locked in one of the glass pods from the previous facility. Polinski stood on the other side, watching him as he sat there, motionlessly. It was like he was thinking. Elfen made no movements, and it freaked out Polinski.
"Home away from home. Get used to these four walls. It's all you're going to be seeing for the remainder of your future."
"If that's what you say."
"I never quite caught your name?"
"Elfen the Warrior. King of the Nexus. Destroyer of the Elder God."
"The then King. You're not a king no more, are you? Why are you here on Earth?"
"I would have thought your wizard would have told you that, yet, he does seem quite gullible for a man of his capabilities." Polinski was taken aback by that comment. He hadn't spoken to Eric in some time, and was baffled that Elfen even knew of his existence and abilities. Eric is somebody with enough power to cause global destruction, if not a universal catastrophe if he intended too. Polinski didn't like that their enemy knew about Eric, unsure how much he knew, or who else knew.
"My wizard, as you say, can not be easily manipulated like you think. He knows the difference between right and wrong, and he doesn't cross the line."
"And how do you know that? Sometimes, the choices we make will blur that line, and it can get crossed very easily."
"I know he won't, because he drew the line." Polinski stepped closer to the glass door, locking eyes with Elfen, as he too stood up and approached the glass. The only thing blocking physical contact was a single glass pane. "Now, it's evident that these crystals hold some significance to you. What are they? What do they do? And more importantly, what do you want with them?" Elfen chuckled at the questions being asked.
"You really have no idea what you're dealing with, do you?"
"And I'm not sure you know who you're dealing with. We have some of the strongest and most powerful people on the planet on our side. You stand no chance." Elfen smirked and sat back in his seat.
"I think I've met some of your 'strongest' people, and, let's be honest here, they're not all that impressive."
"Well you would say that, but know this. Whatever it is you're planning on doing, it won't work. We'll defend the earth at all costs, and if we fail, we'll fight to make sure you bastards pay." Elfen smirked once again, but refrained from saying anything. Polinski didn't like the silence. He felt that Elfen had a plan, only he didn't know what. He didn't know the true extent of the crystal's power, and he didn't know what Elfen had desired to use them for. It all felt like it was going according to Elfen's plan, whatever it was.
While Elfen remained in custody, a beam of light appeared in the skies over Central Park, shooting vertically into the sinkhole. The light was like a beacon, being shot down instead of up. As the beacon hit the ground, a creature stepped out. It appeared to be another reptilian creature, similar to Elfen's species. Its armour was dark, and covered every inch of its skin. It held a large staff, and had two side holsters for sidearms, and held a blaster on its back.
"My Lord. I have arrived." It spoke, in a dark, raspy voice.
