Chapter 15

Henry stood towering over General Ludon, as the others arrived behind him. Chris used his vines to drag Polinski to safety. They had become a useful tool, especially with reaching things at a far distance. Eddie stepped forward, pulling out his blade and holding it Ludon's throat. His anger and rage was at an all-time high, affecting his ability to make rational decisions.

"I don't know who you are, but I don't care. He killed my brother. He's not going free as long as I am here." Ludon smiled at the boy's grief. Amused, he raised his staff and shot a burst of energy into the chamber containing the holding cells. An evil laughter echoed out of the chamber as they all turned to see Elfen make his appearance.

"Too late, hero." Ludon kicked Eddie in his leg, knocking him down. "My Lord, the crystals, I can sense them."

"They power their suits. Retrieve them and bring them to me." Elfen and Ludon charged at the lads. Their combination of skills had not yet been seen by any of them. Elfen summoned fire through his hands and shot it towards them, while Ludon used his staff to counter the attacks from the groups.

Eddie stood back and charged at Elfen, his rage blurring his vision. He re-equipped his blade, swinging aimlessly at him, while he dodged each attempt. He grabbed his arm, and flung him across the facility. Chris and Tyler combined their powers to strengthen their attack, by launching vines at Ludon, and electrifying them. Their attack was enough to startle and daze Ludon.

Henry made an assault towards Elfen, launching into the air and landing a powerful punch into his face. When he leapt into the air for a second time, he began to hover; something he had never done before. While hovering in the air, he aimed his fists towards Elfen and let out two large white power beams. Elfen held his arm up to act as a shield, blocking the attack, while Ludon upholstered a sidearm and shot at Henry.

"It seems as we meet more, you learn new abilities."

Henry flew around Elfen, firing multiple bursts of energy to distract him, as Connor slid behind him firing energy at him. The combination of the two attacks from multiple different angles had put Elfen in a state of confusion. To escape the attack, he leapt out of the line of fire and shot fire towards the two heroes.

"You call yourselves heroes, yet you're easily defeated every time we fight. Pathetic."

"Whatever you're planning, you can't win."

"And who's going to stop me? You're no match for me."

As the four laid down, exhausted and weak, Eddie stood back up looking more angered and charged up than he had been before. Red energy started to spark off of him as his suit became more powered by his crystal, as if he was ready to blow. He charged at Elfen, holding two blades and swung them continuously at him in his direction. Each hit contained enough power to cause serious damage to his armour. As Eddie attacked him in his blind rage, Ludon snuck up behind him and grabbed him by the neck, throwing him to the ground. He placed his foot on his chest to prevent him from getting up, and jabbed his staff onto the power core in the centre of the suit, absorbing the power. Eddie's suit began losing a lot of power, and began retracting back into the crystal. While Eddie's suit was being ripped off of him, Elfen used his vines to secure the other four lads, ensuring they could no longer escape while they were in a weakened state. Ludon finally ripped the crystal away from Eddie, picking him up once again and throwing him on the other side of the facility, hitting the ground with a loud thud. Elfen proceeded to rip the crystals away from them, and disposed of them on the other side of the facility with Eddie.

"Like I had said before, weak. You attempt to keep these crystals from me and look at all the chaos and destruction it's brought. The lives lost just so I could be given what is rightfully mine."

"Lives you took. Lives of the innocent." Chris slowly stood back up to his feet. "You didn't need to kill anyone."

"You're right. I didn't." He raised his fist towards Chris. "I just really wanted to." As he shot another small burst of energy, a purple streak ran in front of the incoming projectile and deflected it. Elfen and Ludon summoned a beacon of light and disappeared into the abyss.

Miles appeared in front of Chris, and helped him pick everyone up. They all dusted themselves off from the debris they had fallen in. Miles then ran over to Polinski and assisted him, sitting him up as his leg was no longer in existence. Polinski ripped off apart of his jacket and tied it tight above the thigh to act as a tourniquet, stopping it from bleeding out.

"Well it seems I missed out on all the fun." Polinski stared at Eddie.

"What on earth was that?"

"I'm sorry." Eddie dropped to his knees, and started to silently weep. "I didn't mean to lose control like that."

"You may have just cost us the world."

"Back off, Polinski. He didn't intend for any of this."

"Back off? You guys are powerless, the world is now in grave danger, and I may lose a leg."

"I didn't mean to cause us to lose those crystals." Eddie looked up to Chris. "I-i just miss Sam. I wanted to kill that bastard. He deserves to pay for what he did."

"He will pay, Eddie, but not like this." Chris put his arms out to embrace Eddie as he started to break down.

"He was just a kid. Why him?"

Polinski and Miles sat on the one side as they watched Eddie start to crumble and break down in his grief. Now was his chance to let out his emotions without risking life. Now was his chance to be human. As he sobbed more and more, Cameron started to approach the group, having returned from securing the rest of the base.

"Everything is secure and on lockdown," he said in a very pissed off tone, holding a large blade.

"Cameron?" Chris looked annoyed. "Where the fuck have you been?"

"Oh, he didn't tell you yet. Did he?"
