"Welcome back!" Lydia greeted as she sat up from her position on the ground and walked up to meet the group. A wide smile on her face until she looked at Clint.
"Clint where's Nat?" Both Bruce and Lydia asked
Clint dropped to his knees, just staring, empty.
"Oh my God" Lydia whispered, looking down before putting a hand on Clint's shoulder.
The group found their way outside, all quiet and thinking. Lydia dangled her feet over the water, wiping her tears as they fell.
"You're acting like she's dead" Thor said to Tony, "Why are you acting like she's dead? We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones , Cap, we can bring her back! Isn't that right? So stop this shit. We're the Avengers. Get it together"
"We can't get her back" Clint spoke
"Thor... It can't be undone." Lydia added in, hoping to spare Clint and others
"No offense, but you're a very earthly being, okay? And we're talking about space magic. and "cant" seems very definitive, don't you think?" Thor ranted
"Yeah, look, I know that I'm way outside my pay grade here but she still isn't here, is she?" Clint added in, "It cant be undone. Or that's at least what the red floating guy had to say! Maybe you wanna go talk to him, okay? You go grab your hammer, and you fly and you talk to him"
Lydia stood, staring at the ground as she listened to Clint, her heart breaking more. She walked over to him and placed her hand on his shoulder again, the man pulling her in for a hug for a few moments. She looked up at Thor, also walking over and providing him the same which the God accepted quickly and quietly.
"It was supposed to be me" Clint whispered, "She sacrificed her life for that goddamn stone. She bet her life on it!"
Bruce threw a bench into the water in anger, "She's not coming back. We have to make it worth it"
"We will" Steve said ————————————————————————
"Alright the gloves ready" Rocket said, "Question is, who's gonna snap their freaking fingers?"
"I'll do it" Thor said
"Guys, we need to be smart about this. Seriously" Lydia butted in, sighing
"I'm the strongest avenger. this responsibility falls on me" Thor expressed
"Normally you're right, it's not about that! Hey buddy.." Tony said
"Just let me do it. Just let me do something good, something right" Thor begged
"Look, it's not just the fact that the glove is channeling enough energy to light up a-" Tony started but was cut off again as Thor pressed forward, "I'm telling, you're in no condition "
"What do you think is coursing through my veins right now?" Thor questioned,
"Cheez Wiz" Rhodey added in
Thor pressed on again before Bruce said it had to be him. So he did it. He snapped. ————————————————————————
Clint's phone began to buzz, Scott was looking outside. Lydia looked up as Clint answered his phone.
"Honey" Clint said,
"Guys, I think it worked" Scott whispered
And then, the building was destroyed. And with it, everyone fighting to escape. ———————————————————————-
