Lydia stared at herself in the mirror

Lydia stared at herself in the mirror. Her hair was down and surprisingly long, her shirt off on the side, and her eyes tired. She looked at herself, not proud of the reflection she was seeing:

"God, why did I let this happen?" She spoke quietly, poking at her stomach a little. "And all these bruises.." she looked at the ones littering her body, from all the battles, physically and mentally/emotionally. She hated it. Hated herself so much. How did she let this happen? Why hadn't anyone said anything to her? Well I know why- but still. She thought

"Babe, i'm home!!" Sam greeted happily, placing his keys down and taking his shoes off.

"Hi honey!" Lydia yelled back, quickly throwing her shirt on and turning back to fixing some makeup. Applying coverage under her eyes to hide the dark circles and more.

"Hey, whatcha doing?" Sam asked, leaning against the doorframe.

"Just fixing my hair and such.. how was the store?" She asked, changing the subject before she put her items away and walked out of the bathroom with him.

"It was fine... you alright?" He asked, eyeing her

"Of course! Hey Im gonna take Bear for a walk, you're welcome to join" Lydia explained, throwing on her shoes and grabbing a leash. She left before he could even answer.

Every hero dealt with their grief and the things they went through differently, however with Lydia, she didn't know what to do. It was almost eating her alive. She went to the gym more, barely slept and overworked.

"Lydia, we need to talk" Sam prompted as he walked into the room

"What's up?" She smiled

"What's going on with you... and don't say nothing because I know it's not" Sam said seriously, grabbing her hand gently

Lydia sighed deeply and released all her thoughts, every single thing that was bothering her she spilled within seconds. So much for hiding that, she thought.

When she finished, Sam, smiled softly at her.

"Honey, you can have your fears and dislikes, i understand that trust me we all do. But, it's okay. You look fantastic. I love you, so so much. You're perfect to me, I don't care about the scars and what not... because to me it shows how much you've worked and grown. You put yourself into everything, and you shouldn't stress too much. We have time to fix things if you want or don't, it's okay. I promise." Sam listed on all the good things she needed to hear, making her smile and lean on his shoulder, fiddling with his hands.

"I love you Sam" Lydia smiled softly, kissing his cheek.

"I love you too Lyds" Sam looked at her, "And no more excessive gym trips okay? Or take me with you so you don't hurt yourself"
