"I'm heading out...!" I exclaimed, about to open the front door. Michael knew I was going on this biking trail with my friends before this moment, but he probably still wanted to say goodbye.

"Wait, wait!" Michael yelled back, and I heard him scramble down the stairs. He had Bowtie sitting on his shoulder and he ran up to me, a big worried smile on his face. "Did you pack everything? Lunchbox, water bottle, stranger-danger device?"

"Yes, Michael," I said, rolling my eyes. My backpack felt less heavy compared to when I had my school books in it, and the "stranger-danger device" that Michael spoke of hung off the zipper of the front pocket.

"And you sure you know how to use the bike lock?" Michael asked.

"Duh, of course I can!" I yelled. The key was in my backpack's front pocket, and currently my bike was chained to the bike stops for the residences of the apartment complex.

"Okay. Take Bowtie with you," he said, and he brought his hand to his shoulder and let Bowtie crawl into his palm, passing it over to me.

I had hoped he wouldn't ask me to. Bowtie had no idea that this was a secret investigation, and I didn't want it finding out in case it told Michael.

"Are– are you sure? I just don't want to lose it," I stammered, trying to come up with some poor excuse as to why I couldn't bring it along.

Bowtie glared at me, offended. "Really? You'll lose the shiny blue talking bunny?" it said. I scowled at it. It definitely knew something was up.

"Fine," I grumbled, but this was going to be annoying. How was I going to hide the truth from it?

Michael noticed my weird reaction too, but he chose to ignore it. "Okay... do you want me to come out and watch you lea–" I put out my hand to stop him.

"No, this is embarrassing enough already, I don't need you to send me off," I said. Michael laughed, and before I could react he wrapped his arms around me in a tight hug. I groaned annoyedly while he kissed my head and rocked me back and forth. Once he was done, he patted my arms and said, "Have fun. And be home before dark."

"Okay," I said, and I opened the door and walked out. Michael popped out the door frame and yelled, "Call me if anything happens!"

"Michael!" I shouted at him. He awkwardly chuckled and waved at me from the doorway, but I tried to ignore it as I got my bike.

I unlocked the chain that kept my bike in place and put the chain and key in my backpack, letting Bowtie sit at the top. Technically, this bike was Evan's. It had been rusting away in the garage of my old home, but Michael did some repairs, replaced some parts, and it was practically a new bike. I wasn't really a biker, but Jay liked biking a lot, and he would invite me to join him, so I asked Michael for a bike, and this is what I got. It was originally green, but the whole stem was replaced with a blue one, which felt a lot more like me.

Now my friends and I were going to go find Vanny's hideout, under the guise of following a bike trail.

I hopped onto my bike and pulled out my phone, setting up the directions to the train station. Bowtie had its head over my shoulder and watched me put in the directions, looking over at me.

"The train station?" it said. "I thought we were going on a bike trail."

"Uhm... It's just up in the country," I said. Bowtie stared at me with a knowing smirk. "What?" I said. "Why– why are you looking at me like that?"

"Like what?" it said.

"Like you know something," I muttered. "Did Michael tell you to keep an eye on me?"
