We were back to walking through the tunnel. At least this time we didn't have to worry about finding someone. I felt pretty confident that Tyler would be somewhere else. Of course, he was now taking up most of my thoughts. I wondered where he was and what was happening to him. I wondered if he knew about Isaac and his father, though just from what he'd said during the sleepover, it seemed like he did.

Jay and Mai were bickering ever so quietly. I think they were trying to be quiet so as to not alert Freddy where we were, but I doubted them whispering would really change all that much.

Isaac seemed to be in his own world, walking silently beside us. I was worried that he was overthinking things, but I didn't know what to say to him, especially in front of Jay and Mai. I didn't think he wanted to talk to me either. I heard a quick snivel, so I turned to look at him. I caught him staring at me, and when he noticed, he looked away and quickly wiped one last tear from his face with his hand. I didn't say anything.

While we were walking, what little light we had suddenly vanished with a flicker. I heard Jay and Mai stop walking and their voices ceased.

"Huh... a blackout?" Mai suggested.

"Ugh, like this could get any worse," Jay muttered, annoyed.

"Let's just keep going," I said.

"It's dark, so...!" Mai said happily, and she grabbed onto my hand and presumably Jay's. He shouted, and then quieted his voice when he realized he was too loud, "Dammit, Mai!"

"It's so funny watching you get so flustered over hand-holding," she admitted, giggling.

Isaac must've realized what was happening. I felt him reach out to me with two hands on my arm and slowly fell them down to my hands, until he let one of them drop. I wrapped my fingers around his palm and rubbed my thumb against the back of his hand. He hesitated before squeezing mine.

Once again, we were walking forwards with our hands intertwined. Jay was muttering to himself and Mai would gently kick him to shut him up. I turned over to Isaac and asked him quietly, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," he said quickly.

"I'm... sorry," I apologized. "We're all here because of me, so, I'm sorry." I didn't get to tell Isaac that it was my fault like how I told Mai and Jay.

Mai must've overheard me, because I heard her stifle an annoyed, "Hmph," as if she was biting back her words.

"It's okay," Isaac said softly. "Everything will be okay."

He sounded like he was trying to convince himself that as well. I wished I could say more to him, like words of comfort or solace, but I didn't want to risk Mai or Jay overhearing again. I didn't know how he could follow us like this even after what happened with his dad. I knew I'd be too overwhelmed. He was so much stronger than I was.

As we continued onward, we could hear movement further into the cave, but with the blackout, we couldn't see anything. Even the gemstones embedded in the walls refused to light up the way. Jay began moving a little slower, and any chatter that was between us ceased completely as we tried to listen in as closely as possible.

At a turn, we could see the exit. Barely, though, as whatever was outside must've also been affected by the blackout. We could see the stars and some of the lamp posts outside that were still on, but a dark silhouette moved around it, blocking most of the view as it dug into the ceiling and the walls. I could practically feel Isaac's anxiety begin to rise as he frantically tried to tell us, "He's trying to cause a cave-in!"

I could understand that it was Freddy, but I certainly wouldn't have come to that conclusion as fast as Isaac did. Freddy heard him and spun around to look at us. His eyes glowed harshly, striking us like a bright flashlight.
