Third person pov

"Can you slow down," Y/N shouted, clutching onto the bar for dear life. Her knuckles were turning white.

She shut her eyes, screaming in unison with the others on the rollercoaster. It was her first time riding one, and the thrill of chatter from other people beforehand made her extremely excited. However, once they accelerated to high speed and drifted in sharp turns, Y/N's confidence switched to a blood-curdling mess.

After the ride, Y/N couldn't stop shaking, her body still in survival mode. Hermione linked her arm with Y/N's, which did end up easing Y/N a little bit.

"I can't believe you asked the rollercoaster to stop," Hermione jested, snapping the girl awake.  Y/N gulped and shook her head.

"How can you muggles like such a thing," Y/N managed to say.

"Didn't you play quidditch? It's exactly like that," Hermione said, soothing Y/N's bicep with her other hand.

"Yes, but it's been awhile. Plus I don't trust that since it was man made." The rollercoaster they rode was one of the big attractions in the small carnival. From loud rusting to an unstable seatbelt, it just didn't seem appealing to Y/N anymore.

It was their third day there at Hermione's hometown, and she thought it would be fun if she took Y/N to the well known winter carnival that's hosted every year around holidays. Her parents used to take her a lot when she was younger, and she fell in love with the captivating bright lights and energetic atmosphere. It was one of the only times Hermione enjoyed a crowded place.

With only two days passing by, Y/N has had a lot of first time's. It was definitely going to be a memorable trip for her. She's visited a few places in the muggle world, but with Hermione, she's closely focused on the small details of it all. To Hermione it was something ordinary, but to Y/N, it was another magical world that she didn't know existed.

The two of them came to a halt in front of a food truck. As Hermione was ordering something, Y/N's gaze wandered to the menu that had a variety of carnival food. Some looked good, while others looked sketchy.

Y/N's thoughts drifted off to — how in the world do they make food inside of a vehicle.

"What would you like Y/N?" Hermione asked, pulling a soft tug to get Y/N's attention. The gryffindor never once let go of her arm when they walked, it actually helped a lot with coping with the coldness.

"Can I get that?" Y/N pulled her hand out from her black puffer jacket, pointing to one of the items.

Glancing at the picture then back to Y/N, she nodded. "Anything else?"

"And uhm.." Y/N bit her lip, thinking to herself as her eyes traveled to the beverages, "and that."

"Can we have cotton candy and hot chocolate?" Hermione asked the man. After giving the amount of money, she took Y/N to one of the tables near the truck. Over them was a big red tent that had yellow christmas lights hanging from corner to corner. The rent was pretty massive as it almost overlapped the food truck.

"We didn't get our food," Y/N said with slight chattering from her teeth. Hermione sensed she was feeling cold, so she pulled the girl closer, hugging her arm tighter.

"We have to wait for our number to be called," Hermione retorted.

A blush crept onto Y/N's cheeks. She felt bad for asking so many questions throughout her stay. But how could she not ask questions? The norms were different, the food was slightly different, and the exterior of buildings were different. She was so intrigued by it all.
