Chapter 2

Mariyah was overwhelmed by her daughter calling her and crying. Feeling distressed, she hugged her back.

She was glaring at the servants who dared stare at her crying daughter.

Maybe because she's the youngest and only girl in the family, that's why she's pampered so much.

She actually have a big sister but the eldest daughter can't be considered a daughter at all because she's almost like a son, with her strength and muscular head. And also an attitude that's more rough than a man's.

Receiving love from her grandparents, parents, and siblings. Mariyah knows that they're the reason why Gem grew up like this, but they can't help it. They love her so much that they can't wait to give the world to her.

Seeing her like this right now, Mariyah felt guilty. They agreed to the engagement before thinking that their daughter would have a good life and be respected once she married the crown prince, but what it brought her was only pain.

Gem looked up to her mother, sobbing. "Mother, I miss you," she uttered. It was almost like a whisper.

Mariyah felt her heart soften at the words she heard from her daughter.

"Mother misses you too. There, there, don't cry, let's eat first. Look at you, you're so thin. You should eat a lot." Mariyah guided her daughter to sit and fill Gem's plate with dishes she knows her daughter likes.

Gem calmed her emotions at this time and ate with relish. She's feeling as if she's been starving for a year.

Mariyah only ate a little and watched her daughter wolf down on her food with her head down. She must be very hungry. How pitiful. My daughter is so pitiful.

After eating, Mariyah called the doctor and let him run a thorough checkup on her daughter.

Knowing that besides fatigue and malnutrition, theres nothing serious. After prescribing some medications, the doctor left politely.

Mariyah urged Gem to eat more and take care of her body.

"Don't think about that stinky boy. He doesn't deserve you, okay? If he wants to annul, then annul. It's his loss."

Gem smiled at her words and nodded.

Seeing her daughter obediently nestling in her arms and nodding, Mariyah felt so comfortable and didn't want to part with her daughter at all to attend to her duties.

Although Gem nodded about breaking the engagement with the prince, Mariyah felt even more relaxed than worried about the sudden change of heart of her daughter about the crown prince. Her daughter grew up sensible, she only feels lucky as a mother.

Despite her reluctance to leave her daughter, she still needs to attend to her duties as the mistress of the house. Mariyah takes up all the work of the head of the family whenever her husband's away.

When Gem was finally alone, she sat in the living room in a daze. She is thinking about what she should do next to avoid being implicated and peacefully break the relationship with the main characters of the novels so that she can live this life to the fullest with her family.

She's just thinking about when a butler told her that the young misses and ladies of house Verlack, Arabella, Dove, Haolan, and Beaumont came to pay her a visit. She had another headache.

She actually forgot that she's still the leader of this group of villains and Cannon Fodders, who ended miserably in the book with her.

She sighed. Although she wants to live a new life as a simple person, she can't just sit and watch this girl she influenced do stupid things to just die.

She informed the butler that they'd have a tea party in her garden. After saying so, she went back to her room to dress herself.

Now look at this girl, who is also looking back at her. She couldn't help but feel like a mother with her children who bullied outside. She looked aggrieved as they looked at her. Looking so wrong.

"Are you okay, Lady Gem? It's unreasonable for you to be grounded when you did nothing wrong. That foreigner Alyzza should be the one to be punished. To be banished from the kingdom!"

Gem looked at the angry Lady Giselle and smiled. "Thanks for your concern, but this lady is doing fine. My feeling can't be better. Anyways, what's happening outside now? I can't get information about the outside world while grounded."

"Lady Gem, my fiance wants to annul our engagement." Lady Giselle of House Beaumont looked worried.

"That lowly foreigner actually was a whore! Not only trying to seduce Lady Gem's fiance, the prince, but also mine!" She continued. Her tone was disdainful.

Gem remembered Lady Giselle, whose head literally rolled on the ground, as she's said to collude with the enemy based on her very own fiance's statement. The sole heir of the duke of the West.

But Gem had a favorable impression of her because she's the complete opposite of the heroine, who loves to hide deep. This lady, Giselle, can be said to be like a mirror, an open book, because everything she thinks of will be said, and her feelings can be noticed by her expression alone.

She's a straightforward girl with a foul mouth. The readers of the original book hate her for this, but Gem thinks that she's cute and honest.

"That also stupid brother of mine. Can't he see that Miss Primrose is a hundred times better than that foreign woman!?" Lady Giselle furiously presented the downcast Primrose in the side.

Gem nodded again. This Miss Primrose of house Arabella is a cannon fodder who is the daughter of a viscount. Because she was pursuing one of the male leads, her status was reduced to that of a commoner, and she died after accidentally wandering to the red light district.

You can imagine how much a former noble suffered in that place. Pitiful.

"I also don't know why the love of my life cares for that girl while he's so indifferent to me," Lady Lavinia sighed.

Lady Lavinia of House Verlack is even more pitiful, as she's a short-lived cannon fodder. She died in the hands of the bandits as she's trying to chase after her beloved, who also chased after another woman (Alyzza).

Gem looked at the other two and asked, "How about Lady Clementine and Miss Alea?"

Alea spoke first: "I've tried my best to impress him and his family, yet they still treat me coldly. But that foreigner..." She doesn't need to continue for them to understand what she's trying to say.

Alea's family has been merchants for almost three generations. But she took a liking to a man from the military. Unfortunately, the man's family strictly prohibits marrying a capitalist, as it may taint their reputation as upright soldiers of the kingdom.

"Brother Den doesn't have time for me anymore either. He's become busy," Lady Clementine said simply. Her eyelashes trembled, and her eyes drooped, trying to remain calm.

Gem knew that there's more beyond what Lady Clementine said.

This girl was considered a villain in the novel as she had a deep relationship with one of the male leads. As childhood sweethearts, the two were expected to marry when they reached legal age, as arranged by their parents.

From a marquess' house. Their family was famous for their benevolence and generosity.

Clementine grew up as a pure and kind girl. Always lending a hand to those in need, she even built multiple orphanages with the support of her parents, but for the sake of the unreasonable plot, she and her family died of hunger in prison. Imprisoned for embezzlement, extortion, and bribery.

Really, what a twisted story.

This foreigner in the mouth of these ladies is the heroine of the novel, Alyzza.

A beautiful girl accidentally came to this country and coincidentally met with the important figures of the country. The country's talented and important figures fell in love with her uniqueness of being reckless, free, and honest.

Honesty, my foot.

From Gem's perspective, the heroine is someone who isn't fitted to be a nobel with her commoner-like attitude. Having no etiquette, she doesn't know what the male leads find interesting about this woman.

Gem read this novel with a straight face from the beginning to the end, but knowing it from her own perspective-being the character , she couldn't help but feel angry. This novel is so stupid. The author must have water in his or her brain to make this novel.

In this stupid novel, just being related to these male leads can actually drive you to your doom.

She decided. She won't just sit by and solve her own problem with the prince but also help these pitiful girls who strayed off because of her own crooked teachings (before) and died miserably just because of some stinky and foolish men fawning over a stupid woman.

She wasn't called the 'avenger' in her previous life without a reason.
