you spent the next two days with childe at the lodge doing all sorts of stuff. from fishing (which he was surprisingly good at), to roasting marshmallows and lighting up fireworks, to cooking barbeque and so on, it had been one of the most relaxing days you've had in a while.

you felt like for once, you actually forgot all of the worries you had. you forgot about your chase with the murderer, you forgot about your plans.

perhaps, childe made you realize that maybe, just maybe there was hope for someone like you in the world even for just a split second.

"childe?" you spot him at the small living room reading a book. the prince still wore the necklace you gave him around his neck.

he looks over to you and smiles, "hey."

you sat next to him on the couch, letting the man sneak his arms on your waist as he places the book that he was reading down.

"are we leaving tomorrow?"

he nods, "sadly. i've been called to another meeting with the queen so i need to get there by tomorrow evening."

you frowned at the mention of the queen, "y'know, i haven't met the queen in person."

"no surprises there, she doesn't go out a lot. do you want to meet her?"

you shrug, "i'm more of just curious as to what she's actually like."

"well..." childe thinks. "she's actually a gentle soul in person. you might get intimidated by the rumors but she's nothing like that when you actually meet her."

"she's... gentle?"

"that's the best i could describe it. i could only see her once every few months when meetings are held."

"then... what about your younger siblings? don't they ever get the chance to meet her?"

"they..." he suddenly frowns. "they never actually met her in person yet either."

"wait... what?" you gasp. "but... she's their mother, isn't she?"

"i..." you notice him pause, as if he was about to say something but hesitated. "she's a very busy woman." was all he said.

"oh..." you didn't know what to say, you couldn't help but to regret bringing up the topic since the look on his face suggested that he didn't want to talk about it. "sorry, i may have asked for personal stuff."

"it's alright." he brushes your hair with his hand. "it's just a heavy topic, is all."

you didn't mean to bring the mood down, seeing the frown on his face made you regret ever saying anything in the first place.

"hey." you placed your hand on top of his. "why don't we head out for the last time?"

"i'd like that." he squeezed your hand. "alright, let's go. there's one last spot i'd like to take you."

"[Y/N]? i'll be waiting for you at the front." he knocks on the bedroom door to let you know while you were changing clothes.

"alright." you replied.

childe went out the lodge and stood near the front porch where he waited for you to come out. since this would be the last day of being in the rest house, he figured it was time to show he what he really came there for.

"hey."

childe turns to face you where he saw you dressed up in fancy clothing. you were always wearing a uniform in front of him, or just something simple, but today was different.
