Foot ready on the break.
Hand on the wheel.
The feeling of anxious nerves striking through your being.
Gear shift ready insight.
The flag raises...
and it drops.

It was around 6:00 PM that I got a text from my friend. I dreaded opening it, considering it might be one of her stupid ideas again.
Upon opening the message, my eyes widened at the text I had received.
Nala🧞♀️
y/nnnn
do you wanna go somewhere
with me tonight?and where is that?
it's a surprise!
just tell me what it is.
it's...
queue dramatic drum roll
nala!fine fine!
street racing!nala, you know why
i don't like that anymoreik...
but as long as you're
watching, it's fine!
fine
BUT JUST WATCHING!!🧚yes! i'll pick you up
at 9!With that, I shut my phone off and facepalmed, thinking about why I even agreed.
I checked the time again, reading that it was 6:17 PM at this point, meaning I still had a lot of time to at least eat and do something in the meantime.
Rolling myself out of my bed, I heard a knock at my door. Considering I don't like a lot of people, I was curious as to whom it was.
I opened to door to see a short friend of mine, Hu Tao. She smiled at me like she had something on her mind...
"Are ya doing anything right now?" She asked, still smiling at me while poking my shoulder.
"Not at the moment, no," I responded, "why?" I waited for her response, but she looked even brighter than before.
"Nala told me you were going street racing tonight!" She cheerfully replied, doing a hop of sorts on one leg.
"Watching, not participating!" I didn't want to come off as rude to my friend, but I need to get the point across.
"Yeah yeah, well we gotta at least get you an outfit to go!" She ushered me inside my apartment, closing the door herself.
She walked to my room and swung open my closet door. She loved my clothing selection, and she made it known often.
"We could... get you wearing a white tank," She threw the piece at my face. Why do I let her do this...
"Oo! Your dad's vintage race jacket, annndddd a pair of leather pants?" She pulled the pants out and smiled at me.
"It's street racing, not a strip club Hu Tao." I rolled my eyes at my friend. She put them back and pulled out a pair of mom jeans.
"I'll let ya get ready, I'm making myself some food, ciao!" She closed my bedroom door behind her; from a distance, I hear her open my refrigerator. Friends...
I put the clothes on, feeling overdressed but the nostalgia felt nice. I smiled at myself in the mirror in my dad's jacket.
'Glad I got to keep it instead of those other geeks.' I thought to myself.
