Chapter Five -
"Alright, that's it," Han said grabbing Seungmin's arm and dragging him back. "What is going on?"
"What are you talking about?" he asked shrugging Jisung off and fixing his shirt. They were standing at the university entrance students filing past them eagerly as classes ended for the day. Seungmin kept his eyes on the crowd making sure he could pull Han away if Minho appeared.
Statistically, it would be rare with the amount of enrolled students and staff but the statistic Jisung would meet an alpha that awakened his omega instinct was even more rare. And that had already happened.
"You've been jumpy all day, spacing out, you hardly even looked at me, like now, hey!" Han clapped his hands and Seungmin finally met his eyes. Jisung ducked down to look up at him nodding his head with a sarcastic smile. "Yes, hi, Han Jisung still exists, nice to meet you."
"I know you exist, how could I forget."
"Just tell me what the issue is. Did my parents say something to you?" Han tried to reach for his phone. Seungmin pulled away holding his arm out in an attempt to keep him at bay. "Are you reporting back every second of what we do, huh, lemme see!"
"No, I'm not, and I haven't been jumpy. I am looking for our ride. Someone has to make sure you stay alive."
"I've been doing a great job staying alive, thank you."
"Please, you almost broke your neck falling down the stairs because you were preoccupied staring at the building instead of walking."
"Architecture should be appreciated, even a school."
"You burnt your tongue because you ate the soup too fast in the cafeteria."
"It was good! It had spices my nutritionist would have a heart attack over."
"Almost getting into a fight with the two dudes in the bathroom a mere ten minutes ago." Han blushed giving up on acquiring the phone and rubbing the back of his neck. "No excuse for that?"
"I think we should pretend it never happened."
"Good idea."
"Fine, if you don't want to tell me, I won't force you. But seriously Seungmin, relax. You're making me feel on edge." He glanced over his shoulder wearily half expecting a ghost to be there. Han shuddered at the thought.
"Our ride's here." Seungmin led him to the escalade, grateful when they were inside and there had been no sign of Minho. He needed to be better at concealing the truth or else Han would become too suspicious.
As they drove to the apartment he toyed with the idea of alerting Jisung's parents. He didn't have to say everything, but maybe he could come up with a story that Lee Minho was a threat and have him transferred to another school. Sighing he shook his head knowing that if he said anything Minho would be an innocent victim and more would happen than a transfer. No, he was in it by himself.
"Are you listening?"
"Hm?" he looked up Han hanging over the backseat eyes narrowed. He flung himself against the seat's arms raised in exasperation.
"You're a better secretary than a friend." Seungmin's chest tightened at the comment surprised he felt hurt by it. Usually he ignored Jisung's attitude but now that they had spent the day together as peers he found himself bothered.
He wanted to be a good friend just as much as he wanted to be a good secretary. Maybe he could tell him to stay away from Minho, confide in him like a friend would. Seungmin turned in his seat watching as Han scrolled petulantly through his phone purposefully ignoring his sudden attention.
