Chapter 15 -
San was amazed at the apartment building when he entered, staring in awe at the sleek furnishings and marble floors. He should have expected as much from HK Enterprises's heir, but Han's personality was vastly different from what he imagined the chaebol would be. It didn't seem possible that his own boss, Yeosang, and Jisung, would be as personable and kind as they were, yet here he was. When he reached the penthouse suite the staff were waiting for him enthusiastically welcoming him into the house. He listened attentively to the instructions of the housekeeper who had been in the middle of making rice porridge for Seungmin.
"He had medicine earlier with a cup of ginseng tea," she explained, turning off the heat and moving the pot to cool on another burner. "I checked on him thirty minutes ago and he was asleep. His fever has reduced to 99, which is much better than this morning. Jisung-nim left his card for anything Secretary Kim requires." She wiped her hands with a towel nodding her head towards the black card on the counter. "I purchased over the counter meds at the pharmacy, and groceries, but I do think he should have the doctor come by."
"Is there a family doctor?" San inquired, staring at the card in awe. He had heard that black cards were only reserved for the wealthiest members of society. It seemed unreal that Han had left one behind so easily.
"Yes, Doctor Kim, would you like me to call him?" San's head shot up at the inquiry realizing Han's staff was asking him for permission. He blushed, stammering out several syllables while he considered her words. She appeared amused waiting patiently for a reply. Jisung had left him in charge of Seungmin's wellbeing and if he had been in his place, he knew Hongjoong and Seonghwa would have already had him at a hospital for care.
"Please, if it's no trouble."
"Of course, sir."
"Thank you, you have worked very hard." he bowed deeply, and she giggled returning it.
"My name is Ji Ah, feel free to call me should you need any assistance. In the meantime, I will schedule a house visit with Doctor Kim."
"Yes! I will make sure Secretary Kim eats." Ji Ah exited the kitchen leaving a flustered San. It was strange to manage things on Han and Seungmin's behalf. San was far beneath either of their stations and he wished Woo Young had come with him. The executive secretary may be tough to please, but at least he always knew what to do, and it eased San's anxiety whenever he was near. Decisions were always difficult for him and while he knew he needed to learn to make them, it was nice when someone else took the lead. In fact, San preferred it.
He stared at the rice porridge contemplating the situation he found himself in until at last he shook his head. Determined he rolled up his sleeves deciding if nursing Seungmin back to health was his duty it was the least he could do. Afterall, the secretary had been nothing but kind to him from giving up the banana milk to assisting him when he spilled coffee in the conference room. Unlike Woo Young, Seungmin was kind and warm, his soft smile never failing to comfort San each time they met. He ladled the soup into a bowl before finding a tray to set the items on. When he was finished, he headed toward the hallway assuming Seungmin's room would be in that direction and not wanting to bother Ji Ah. To his relief he found the secretary easily, his door left open revealing his sleeping form. San giggled at his peaceful expression quietly seating himself beside the bed. The housekeeper had moved the desk chair to his side for a place to sit and cleared the nightstand. Seungmin did not stir at the clattering of dishes or rustling of San's clothes. He made room for the tray placing the medicines on top so he could use the small table fully.
When it was secure, he sat back observing the young man before him. His black hair was messy, strands fanning out against the pillows, while some stuck to his forehead with sweat. Seungmin looked much younger when he slept almost innocent, and San couldn't help but lean forward. He brushed his bangs from his face giggling when Seungmin's nose twitched, grumbling lightly as he shifted beneath his fingers. His full lips parted soft snores leaving them as he settled back into sleep. San allowed his fingers to linger tracing his cheekbone gently until he jumped back startled when Ji Ah rapped her knuckles against the door.
